About this file

This document is a detailed technical specification (Section 08800) for glass and glazing materials for the Sarasota County Judicial Center's existing courthouse, prepared by HLM Design. The specification covers comprehensive requirements for interior and exterior glass installation, including various glass types (clear float, grey float, tempered, wire, and laminated), glazing materials, gaskets, and installation procedures. It provides extensive technical guidance on glass selection, performance requirements, testing standards, and installation methods, referencing multiple industry standards from organizations like the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and ASTM International.

The document includes specific technical requirements such as wind load resistance (calculated for 110 mph wind velocity), thermal movement tolerances (120°F ambient temperature range), and detailed installation instructions for different glass types and glazing techniques. It specifies warranty periods for different glass products (five to ten years), outlines acceptable manufacturers and product types for setting blocks, spacers, and sealants, and provides strict guidelines for glass preparation, installation, cleaning, and protection. The specification emphasizes quality assurance, requiring certification from manufacturers, compliance with safety standards, and specific testing protocols to ensure the durability and performance of the glazing systems in the judicial center.
