BACKGROUND: The US Army Public Health Center (APHC) Laboratory Sciences (LS) requires the use of Deionized (DI) water to perform high quality environmental and occupational health sample analysis. The quality of the DI water and the constant, reliable functionality of the water systems are critical to maintain the highest quality sample analysis to support the mission of the APHC.
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION – The referenced DI water system is a Hydro Ultrapure Series A, Reverse Osmosis (RO) System installed o/a 1988. The RO System has a 1,020 gallon capacity Storage Tank that provides and distributes pretreated deionized water throughout the labs in Building E2100. There are (12) Point of Use water purification systems as well to be covered under this contract that will require (2) semi-annual services per contract year.
Consumable supplies must be replaced and provided by the Contractor in accordance with manufacturer specifications for each Point-of-Use system. Please see attached equipment list for make and models of all systems covered under this contract.
EQUIPMENT, INSTALLATION, AND EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE –
Building E2100 Main House RO System:
Location is the Penthouse of Building E2100, Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving
Ground There are two (2) banks of Exchangeable Carbon and DI tanks on the Main RO System.
- Two (2) Carbon Exchange Tanks (14” x 47”)
- Four (4) Mixed Bed DI Exchange tanks (14” x 47”)
NOTE - No elevator access to the penthouse for tank exchanges.
The RO System is self-contained, pre-plumbed, pre-wired and ready for immediate installation. Upon completion of installation the system is required to be a fully functioning system such that the DI water meets ASTM Type I specifications being generated at all point of use locations.
If the incumbent contractor does not receive the new contract award[JGJMCUA1][JLNC2], a complete system evaluation will be required and an exchange of equipment and tanks (as applicable), as well as flushing and cleaning of DI water supply lines must be completed within (2) business days (16 hours) following contract award. Any cost incurred in this evaluation, exchange or flushing of the system must be reflected in the proposal. No additional costs may be incurred above the proposal price.
All system parts, to include a service manual(s) and diagrams are required for a fully functioning system and must be included in the installation service. (i.e. Storage Tank, Switches, Pumps, Power cords, Gauges, Meters, Timers and Filters, Service/Operator Manual etc.)
