QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Site Visit Questions:
1. You mentioned wanting to connect two PCs of different grades to a single monitor using KVM at one workstation. However, I understand that connecting two devices (PCs, etc.) of different grades to one device may violate regulations. Is this permissible?
A: Yes. List of available products can be found on both https://www.niap-ccevs.org/Product/PCL.cfm?ID624=65 or https://aplits.disa.mil/processAPList.action
2. After removing the board, can we leave the wall as is without any repairs?
A: Yes. But minimal cleaning after removal is expected.
3. In the Comm room, there is currently one rack, but it appears there may not be enough space to install the rack equipment listed in the current inventory. Is it possible to move the rack location to the conference room or make modifications to the internal layout or rack location within the Comm room?
A: Modifications can be made to the current rack, but the networking equipment seen during the site visit will remain. The new equipment must fit in the existing rack. Recommend vendors submit how many units are required in their proposal.
4. Is there a need to apply PDS (Protected Distribution System) to the network cabling?
A: No.
5. Regarding the System Box (referred to as the Data Box, at on-site), is it necessary to have one per desk? Also can we continue using the existing ones without replacement?
A: That is up to the vendor. The requirements are in the SOW on what we need for each workstation.
5. Additional Questions:
Suggestions such as placing the video wall monitors within the wall space, proposing speakers and microphones to cover the entire room, and positioning workstations to align with the available space on the left and right sides of the room seem to be more like Requests for Information (RFI). For items like video resolution, image quality, port types, and audio output capabilities and bandwidth, which have many variables, is it possible to define key specifications or standard models & Quantity?
A: A specific workable solution to the requirement is on the vendor to provide. In the solicitation we reference a make and model and state equal to or better than. That means this is the minimal acceptable solution, but the vendor can choose other equipment of equal or better quality (resolution, contrast, brightness, etc.). The purpose of the contract is to get the best solution from multiple vendors professional experience and engineering abilities.
6. Following the previous question, typically, we define standard models and quantities to emphasize key specifications and then propose products with equivalent or superior specs. Is there an intention to follow this approach?
A: No. This contract requires the vendors engineering expertise and experience to provide a reasonable solution to the requirement.
7. We conducted the site inspection today, and even if we receive answers tomorrow, it may be too tight to create a new proposal and quotation that reflects the many questions and explanations we had on-site today. If things continue as they are, it's possible that the proposal and quotation may not be perfect, making it challenging to provide a proper evaluation. Is there any intention to extend the deadline?
A: No, there will no longer be an extension.
8. As time was running out, I couldn't return to the office, so I had to fill out the questions at a highway rest stop and send them to you. Please understand that there is a slight delay in submitting questions.
