About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for federal contract W91QF426BA008, issued by DPW on 21 August 2026, concerning the replacement of exterior doors at Building B635 and Building B636.

The project scope requires replacement of 24 total door leaves across three locations: 16 doors on B635 Floor 2 (Main Level), 6 doors on B635 Floor 1 (Basement), and 2 doors on B636 Ground Level. All replacement doors and frames must be commercial-grade aluminum (6063-T6 architectural aluminum extrusions) per ASTM B209, not steel or hollow metal frames. New door sizes must match existing dimensions rather than standard 3'0" × 7'0" dimensions. Sidelights and toplights must be removed and replaced with insulated 6063-T6 aluminum sheet plate infill panels; full glass doors must be replaced with half-light doors. All existing doorstops must be replaced in-kind with 2 5/8" Goose Neck floor mounts in oil rubbed bronze or matte black finishes. Door installation must be performed by contractors certified and trained by the door manufacturer, with certification documentation submitted after contract award but prior to installation. All door swings must remain unchanged from existing conditions. Mechanical room doors are excluded from the total count.

The contractor is responsible for providing and having Best 7-pin lock cores pinned (M Keyway), with DPW locksmith installing cores and coordinating delivery with the Contracting Officer's Representative. The contractor must furnish all labor and materials to deliver a complete, functioning system including synchronization of new locks to the existing Vanderbilt Access Control System (version 6.4.2). For B635, existing Schlage 302 wired controllers are installed; for B636, Schlage 402 wireless controllers are installed. Existing access control devices must be replaced with new units and salvaged equipment returned to DPW. Existing access control wiring may be reused; if removal, extension, repair, or replacement is required, the contractor must notify the COR and submit an RFI. Power and control wiring transfer methods must match existing installations. The contractor must assume adequate power and capacity for the access control system; if existing conditions differ, an RFI must be submitted. The Access Control System operates as a standalone system with no network integration, IT infrastructure work, cybersecurity requirements, Authority to Connect, Authority to Operate, or RMF compliance required. The contractor must follow ACS hardware manufacturers' operations and testing procedures and notify the COR of pre-final and final acceptance tests and inspections.
