SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
The following have been modified:
RFI
1.) What if the materials for the contract take longer to get then period of performance.
Quotes should consider the specified period of performance. Delays in materials after award will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Delays documented sufficiently may warrant an extension in time.
2. ) What local permits are required, and are do we know what department (Development, Planning, Etc.) is requiring this at each level(City, County, State)?
Contractor can make an inquiry with the local town (Thompson, CT) building office to identify if any permits are required.
3.) Do we know of any other contracts that might effect the prospective period of performance.
No other contracts are scheduled that would potentially interfere with the completion of this contract throughout the Period of Performance.
4.) Are you providing the door hardware or will we need to coordinate with a locksmith vendor through the COR?
Door hardware shall be provided by the contractor - locks will be keyed by USACE after installation.
5.) The can the proposed door be re-located in the current office be located where the current window are to save re-located a header for the new door. That would save jacking up the ceiling to remove existing window header and setting new header for new door.
Door location could potentially be flexible, however, quotes should include installation of the door in the location specified.
6.)Section 2.2. Doors, Windows, Walls & Flooring, Does not list any specifications for interior wall board or finishes. Does the new addition require interior finished and painted wall board.
No this scope does not include any interior finished and painted wallboard. Only framing of exterior walls.
7.) Does the new addition require any electrical e.g. receptacles, lighting, switches or auxiliary electrical components.
No, this scope does not include any electrical installation.
8.)Does the new additions require any mechanical e.g. additional ducting or alteration of existing duct work to cool or heat the additional space.
No, this scope does not include any of this work.
9.) Do you want to use pvc trim on all outside areas (garage door, entrance doors and windows) ?
PVC trim is acceptable to use for exterior doors and windows
10.) Do you want pvc trim with j on all inside and outside corners of the buildings?
PVC trim is acceptable to use for inside and outside corners of the building
11.) Would you consider using ROCKWOOL R30 in the ceilings for insulation instead of R49 or would you want a layer of R30 and then a layer of R23 or R15 ROCKWOOL over the R30?
Attic insulation R value shall meet Energy Star recommendations for attic space in Connecticut; mineral wool insulation is acceptable to use in this space.
12.) Is there a specific size window that you are looking for? The drawing shows a 6' x 2' window in the front and a 2' high with no width in the back.
Upon reviewing the Scope of Work and Drawing, we would like to change the window being installed in the rear of the building to a 6’W x 2’H Transom Window. Window shall be installed so the top of the window is in line with the top of the rear entry door.
13.) The fascia on the new part, do you want it wrapped in white coil stock like the rest of the building? And use vinyl soffits on overhangs?
Yes – fascia should be wrapped in white coil stock and vinyl soffits are acceptable
14.) Do you want the exterior doors to have composite frames and trim?
Use of composite frames and trim is acceptable for exterior doors
15.) Do you want the doors fire rated?
Per Scope of Work section 2.1.3, “All construction material shall be in conformance to the applicable sections of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire and Life Safety Codes (2021).”
16.) Do you want the ceiling to have furring strips to hold the insulation up?
Yes – furring strips are the preferred method of holding insulation in place
17.) In regard to the soffit, facia, and gutters. I know on the new building you will want all new even though it isn’t listed, but is the contractor required to replace all 3 of these components for the whole building?
New soffits and fascia will be required on any new additions that the awarded Contractor is responsible for. There is no requirement to replace the soffits and fascia on the existing building. Gutters are not included as part of this requirement for any aspect of the project.
