About this file

This file is a Performance Work Statement detailing repairs and maintenance required for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dredge MURDEN, a 156-foot split-hull vessel. The PWS outlines comprehensive shipyard work including dry-docking, hull cleaning and painting, machinery replacements, and various repairs to be completed within 90 calendar days after vessel delivery to the contractor's facility. Key requirements include replacing main engines, generators, Z-drive propulsion units, and keel coolers; installing new anodes and exhaust blanketing; conducting audio-gauging surveys; and completing repairs to the hopper seal, manholes, doors, and various mechanical systems. The work must be performed at a facility located between Brownsville, TX and Tampa, FL, within 90 miles of the Intracoastal Waterway with minimum 8-foot draft. The contractor must coordinate with ABS and USCG for required inspections and certifications throughout the repair period.

The PWS contains both definite and indefinite work items, with some repairs contingent on inspection findings. Major machinery replacements will utilize government-furnished equipment (GFE) including new main engines, generators, and Z-drives. The contractor is responsible for proper storage of GFE, disposal of removed equipment, and operational testing of all installed systems. Quality requirements include ABS certification of welders, marine chemist gas-free certifications for confined spaces, and compliance with specified coating systems. The contractor must provide 24-hour watch services and maintain detailed documentation of all work performed.
