Reference: Report of Asbestos Survey 745 Locks Road

Elizabethtown , North Carolina

Dear Mr. Bannerman:

Atlantic Shores Environmental Services, Ltd. (ASE) has completed the asbestos survey at the above referenced property. The purpose of the testing was to determine the presence and general location of asbestos containing materials (ACM) within the three structures located on the property. This report includes a summary of the project background information, and sampling results, .

PROJECT INFORMATION

The property is located at 745 Locks Road in in Elizabethtown, North Carolina and consists of an approximate 1,650 square-foot house, a storage shed and a Conex type building. The house was reportedly constructed in 1917 and the shed was reportedly constructed in 1971. The houses interior construction consisted of sheetrock walls, acoustic ceiling tile, wood flooring and linoleum flooring. The exterior construction of the house consisted of aluminum siding, composite shingle roofing and metal roofing. The sheds construction consisted of a metal roof with metal and wood siding along with concrete flooring. The Conex type buildings construction consisted of concrete walls and roof with 12x12 floor tile flooring. All three building were in poor condition from a result of flooding from hurricane Florence.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

On June 4, 2020, performed asbestos survey on the above referenced structures. The survey consisted of observing the accessible areas of the subject site for the presence of suspect materials, which may contain asbestos. The survey involved detecting both friable materials (materials which can be pulverized or reduced to a powder by hand pressure when dry) and nonfriable materials (materials which pose a hazard when sawn, Report of Asbestos Survey June 8, 2020

Elizabethtown, North Carolina sanded, drilled or pulverized). Homogeneous materials (based on material type, color, texture, etc.)

were identified in various functional spaces (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) during the survey. ASE did not conduct destructive testing.

To determine if the suspect materials observed during the visual survey contained asbestos, representative bulk samples were collected and placed in sealed packages. Sampling was performed in general accordance with National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) protocols. Thirty-one (31) bulk samples were collected during the survey and submitted to EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Morrisville, North Carolina for analysis using the EPA recommended method of Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) coupled with dispersion staining (Method No. EPA 600/M4-020- 82, Dec. 1982). EMSL participates in the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). Their NVLAP accreditation number is 200671-0.

A positive stop analysis was utilized in order to reduce the cost of analysis. Essentially, if a sample is tested positive for asbestos the remaining homogenous samples are not analyzed and assumed positive. Additionally, samples composed of multiple layers were analyzed as individual samples by the lab. Therefore, a total of twenty-eight (28) samples were laboratory analyzed. Sampled materials consisted of the following:

• Sheetrock/Joint Compound

• Acoustic Ceiling Tile

• 12x12 Floor Tile/Mastic

• Linoleum

• Window Glazing

• Chimney Sealant

• Metal Roofing Patch

• Composite Shingles

• Roofing Tar Paper

RESULTS

The EPA defines an asbestos-containing material (ACM) as a material containing greater than one percent asbestos. Asbestos was identified in the black chimney sealant, white chimney sealant and roofing patch samples. Samples containing ACMs have been included in the table below:
