OBJECTIVE

A project site visit for the W912PL21R0015 High-water Crossing at Vamori Wash project was held on Tuesday, 08-June-2021 at 10:00am (meeting location below). The objective of this site visit was to provide interested contractors access to the project site.

MEETING NOTES

The attendees were reminded that the site visit was to provide access to the project site, and that all questions or inquiries must be routed through the ProjNet Bidder Inquiries system.

USACE and CBP representatives discussed the general layout and site access for the project such as the main highway access to the project area (IR 19), lay down yard location (San Miguel gate) and the project specific location (Vamori Wash). Attendees were reminded of the importance of ensuring they follow all traffic and local laws while traveling to and from, and while working on the Tohono O’odham Nation.

CBP reminded the contractors that CBP will not be provide security for the project. Any required security would be provided by the contractor. Tohono O’odham Nation (TON) representatives reminded the contractors of the important of working on the Nation in a respectful way, and the importance of following all of the requirements outlined regarding working on the TON. The

TON timeframes required for review/approvals must be factor into the project schedule.

Contractors must not assume that durations can be shorted on these processes.

CBP reminded the contractors that the cultural and biological monitoring services will be procured by CBP via a separate contract. CBP also outlined that tribal members were sometimes cross the border via the gate adjacent to the lay down yard. This is not to be used for any reason.

The group then traveled via caravan to the project site/location. Additional tribal members arrived during the specific site visit portion. They reminded contractors again of the importance of following the tribal laws, and in being good stewards of the land during construction.
