About this file

This is a set of design and contract specification documents for the Tchefuncte River Bar Channel Maintenance Dredging project in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, issued by the US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District under Solicitation No. W912P826BA081.

The project involves dredging maintenance of the Tchefuncte River Bar Channel to maintain required navigation depths and widths. The channel design specifies a 125-foot bottom width with 1H on 2V side slopes to an elevation of +11.0 feet NAVD88. Dredging operations will occur from approximately C/L Station 1+50 through C/L Station 86+99.87, with a flare section expanding to 200 feet maximum width between C/L Stations 34+71.54 and 42+69.74. The contractor must not ascend the shoreline and all work shall be conducted from the open waters of Lake Pontchartrain. Stumps and debris will be encountered during dredging. Dredged material will be disposed in designated primary and secondary disposal areas within Lake Pontchartrain, with discharge location adjusted as disposal builds to an elevation of +3.0 feet NAVD88. No direct discharge outside delineated disposal areas (existing marsh) is permitted. Cross-section profiles provided throughout the documents establish existing conditions and required design grades, with multiple sections indicating no dredging required where existing bottom elevations already meet design specifications.
