RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS
1. The RFQ indicates a 45 calendar day completion for both vessels.
Looking at the scope of work we would like to request 120 calendar days per vessel for completion.
The government will extend the period of performance to 60 days per vessel.
2. The RFQ also indicates 21 days for completion of each vessel to be done consecutively Table 4.2.1 will be amended to 60 days per vessel.

Furnish a condition report on the bearings, shafts, and couplings to the government inspector within seven calendar days after the vessel is drydocked. Remove and discard both stuffing boxes. Install government furnished shaft seals per technical representative’s recommendations. Install the spare shafts and propellers and strap the propeller nuts to the shaft ends with stainless steel flat bar. Check the alignment of the shafting at the coupling after the vessel has been afloat for 12 hours with fuel and water tanks full. Furnish an alignment report to the government inspector before the couplings are bolted together. Repairs to the shafts and couplings may be authorized by the contracting officer through a modification to the contract.
Provide one Wartsila tech, Mr. Dale Lively, and one qualified machinist to oversee/perform required modifications and install the government furnished shaft seal.

2.11 SEA CHESTS AND VALVES (ITEM 0016). The following work shall be witnessed by the COR and USCG.
Remove the grating cover from the sea chest and reinstall after all work is complete. Remove the two gate valves from the sea chest and disassemble. Clean and inspect for damage and worn parts. Furnish a condition report to the COR describing the required repairs and replacements within seven calendar days after the vessel is drydocked. Clean the valve discs, disc guides, and seats. Replace all gaskets and packing with material equal to original. Replace any bolts, nuts, and washers equal to original, if damaged. Reassemble the valves and perform a shell test and seat closure test in accordance with the MSS SP-61 and repair all leaks. Clean and coat the valves with an urethane primer and topcoat paint system. Reinstall the valves and correct all leaks after the vessel is refloated. The two valves are cast steel gate valves, one 2-1/2 inch and one 6 inch, nominal size. Replace the 2 inch schedule 80 nipple and 2 inch valve on the sea chest for compressed air blowdown with a new equivalent valve. The nipple shall be welded all around on both sides of the sea chest plate. Repair the coatings on the sea chest resulting from the above work. Reassemble the sea chest with a new gasket and cable dealing grommet after all inspections are complete. Additional repairs to the valves and/or sea chests may be authorized by the Contracting Officer through a modification to the contract.
2.12 SEA STRAINERS (ITEM 0017). The following work shall be witnessed by the COR and USCG. Remove the 6 inch and 2-1/2 inch simplex strainers from the sea chest. Disassemble, clean, and inspect for damage and worn parts.
Furnish a condition report to the government describing the required repairs and replacements and cost within two days of the inspection.
