SHEET REF. NO. TITLE AND DESCRIPTION
C-104 Proposed West Bank Paving Plan – Added additional details to existing call-outs C-105 Proposed East Bank Paving Plan – Added new notes and call-outs
D. CONTRACTOR’S INQUIRIES: By this Amendment, the Chicago District, USACE responds to Contractor’s inquiries (SEE THE FOLLOWING).
Q1. It is the Contractor's understanding that the proposed aggregate subgrade depicted beneath the pavement is required in the event the where the excavated subgrade does not pass field density testing.
Please confirm.
USACE Response Q1: Boring data is not available. The Contractor is responsible for meeting all contract requirements. Should the Contractor encounter a differing site condition, the appropriate contract action will be executed, wherein a remedy clause (e.g. FAR 52.236-2) can be invoked to address the differing site condition.
Q2. The proposed pavement around the Demonstration Building Barrier where it is isolated by the retaining wall is to be 8". The rock elevation at this location is high, and there are unidentified utilities in this area. Will the Government consider utilizing 5" pavement at this location since it will not be subjected to vehicular traffic? This will reduce rock excavation and potential conflicts with the proposed pavement and existing utilities.
USACE Response Q2: Changes to the depth of the pavement is included in this amendment. 5" inches will be allowed around the demo building on the interior side of the retaining wall and duct bank only, as shown on Sheet C-105.
Q3. Please confirm the width of the 6” x 6” Copper Mesh grounding system shown to go around the ComEd Substation, how wide is the mesh to be?
USACE Response Q3: The copper mesh is to be installed in the unpaved area around the ComEd substation as shown on sheets C-105 and ES-102. This area is 3 feet wide (information from note 3 on sheet C-105).
W912P619B0023
Q4. Can you provide a detail drawing of what you are requiring?
USACE Response Q4: No additional drawings are forth coming, please follow the installation instructions as described in notes 2 and 3 on sheet ES-102 and details described in Specification Section 28 05 26.00 40.
E. WAGE DETERMINATION: This Amendment encloses the most recent Wage Determination, General Decision IL20190009 08/30/2019.
F. PRE-BID MEETING ATTENDANCE: By this Amendment, the Chicago District is enclosing a copy of the Attendance Sheet from the pre-bid meeting held on September 4, 2019.
