QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

W912P519T0027

OLD HICKORY/CHEATHAM LOCKS

STOP LOG SLOT FILLERS, LINERS, AND GRATINGS

1. Who is responsible for unloading the delivered products?

Answer: It is the responsibility of the Government to provide means for unloading slot liners, slot fillers and accessories each project site. In the event that the Government does not have adequate means for unloading slot liners, slot fillers and accessories, Options 2 and 3 will be executed as needed which would require the contractor to provide the means for unloading the slot liners and accessories. The Contractor will be required to provide Sixty

(60) calendar days’ notice prior to the delivery of the slot liners, slot fillers and accessories.

2. Is the contractor required to provide the concrete and rebar for the Recess Fillers?

Answer: Contractor is required to place concrete and rebar into the slot fillers prior to delivering to each project site. Note 4 on Drawings Q15-20/55 and Q12-20/85 is incorrect. The Not in Contract (NIC) designation is incorrect and will be removed as part of the as-awarded contract package.

3. The solicitation does not indicate the quantity of Slot Filler Hangers. Please confirm only (1) per recess embed assembly is required.

Answer: Concur, 1 slot filler hanger per slot liner (2 in total per project).

4. Is there more information about the Corner Cap Casting available, or a source? We do not have a source and cannot manufacture this part.

Answer: The corner cap casting should be fabricated as depicted on the contract drawings. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to find a sub-contractor if needed.

5. Are we to quote the concrete for the Recess Fillers? On similar past quotes the concrete was approved to be omitted. If the concrete is omitted this time, shall we still quote the Temporary Forms?

Answer: Concrete is to be incidental to slot filler construction. See Bid Schedule. See answer to Question #2.

6. The paint information had a lot of pages about vinyl and mixing elements, but then mentions the 5EZ System is premixed; what exactly is required?

Answer: The contractor is required to paint fabricated components with vinyl paint system consisting of components as described in Specification 09 97 02. The 5-E-Z paint system specified is readily-available from several paint vendors.

7. We don’t see the material specification for the weld anchor studs, can the Government please provide it?

Answer: Headed stud anchors must conform to ASTM A29.

8. We are quoting the Stop Log Recess at 6’-1” wide, as shown on drawing Q15-20/51. On drawing Q15-20/56 the

Corner Protection Typical Splicing Detail (which is (NIC)) and the proposed concrete block-out dimensions on drawing Q15-20/53 makes us think the top corner protection is wider. Maybe 9”+ longer on each side that the 6’-1” dimension which makes it more than 7’-7”? Can it be field trimmed, we don’t see an actual dimension, can the Government please clarify?

Answer: The top corner protection is to extend 3” past the theoretical concrete block-out dimensions on each side. Overall dimensions are shown in Section B-B on Drawings Q15-20/53 and Q12-20/83.
