SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

Q&A Question (1) Is this load cell an actual electronic device to measure the force on the cell?

Answer (1) The compression cells and load pins are both physical devices that house electronic sensors which measure shear strain on the device. This strain is converted to electrical signal to monitor the structural component the device interfaces with. The compression cell reads the axial load in post‐tensioned rods. The load cell monitors the sheer load at a connection point between two separate axially loaded members. See Paragraph

1.4 in Section 35 20 28 of the specifications

Question (2) What is the actual height of the load cell without the base plate?

Answer (2) The required dimensions of both the compression cell and load pin are shown on drawing 64W220‐33.

Question (3) What is the type and grade of material the load cell is to be made of?

Answer (3) The compression cells and load pins are to be made of ASTM A564/A564M, Type 630 stainless steel.

The load washer required for the compression cells are ASTM A29/A29M, Grade 4340 steel. See Paragraph 2.1 of Section 35 20 28 of the specifications.

Question (4) Page 3 of 35 from W912P517T0053 section sf 1449, states in the description of the supplies/services, the word “ assembly”. So the question we have is, are we to quote on more than the load cells and the load pins?

Answer (4) Yes, this contract requirement is for more than the physical compression cells and load pins. The assembly includes calibration of the devices, connecting cables and signal output to existing data loggers shown in the specs.
