Drive-On Containment Units

1-Piece Drive-on Containment Website: http://www.fpidocs.com/index.html

2-Piece Drive-in Containment Website: http://www.polystarcontainment.com

1-Piece Details Drive-on Containment (DOC)

The steel DOCs are 40.0 feet long by 12.0 feet wide by 0.83 feet deep. They are welded and do not dismantle into smaller pieces. They have a series of 21 metal grates that rest on top of the containment with steel ramps on the ends of the containment. This allows the HEMTT tanker to drive onto the containment and rest on the grates. DOCs have four shackles/D-rings, approximately 3 feet from each corner, to connect cables for lifting (see “1-Piece Moving” picture).

DOCs must be moved using a 65-ton capacity crane to lift the single-piece units and place them on a flatbed truck. The DOCs must be transported to their new location and lifted from the truck with the same-sized crane. Each DOC must be placed in a location specified by the building’s tenants and approved by DPW Environmental Division before relocation activities begin. The DOCs must be installed on a level surface (gravel, asphalt, or concrete) with minimal slope (approximately 1 degree). Depressions in the surface below the DOCs must be filled, usually with sand, to prevent pooling inside the containment. The steel ramps must be installed on the ends of the DOCs after they have been placed on the ground. Drainage valves must be relocated to the lowest corner of the containment to drain stormwater.

4-Piece Details Drive-in Containment (DIC)

The steel DICs are 40.0 feet long by 12.0 feet wide by 0.83 feet deep, but disassemble into 4 quadrants. They are bolted together and require lock nuts and a fuel-resistant gasket from the manufacturer. They do not have metal grates that rest on top of the containment.

They have steel ramps on the ends of the containment. This allows the HEMTT tanker to drive into the containment and rest on the bottom. DICs do not have shackles/D-rings.

Each piece must have a supported lift (a fork lift for example).

DICs must be disassembled for transportation, and the quadrants placed on a flatbed truck.

The DICs must be transported to their new location and reassembled with a new fuel-resistant gasket and new lock nuts. Each DIC must be placed in a location specified by the building’s tenants and approved by DPW Environmental Division before relocation activities begin. The DICs must be installed on a level surface (gravel, asphalt, or concrete) with minimal slope (approximately 1 degree). Depressions in the surface below the DICs must be filled, usually with sand, to prevent pooling inside the containment. The steel ramps must be installed on the ends of the DICs after they have been placed on the ground.

Drainage valves must be relocated to the lowest corner of the containment to drain stormwater.
