AMENDMENT – Steel for Barge Deck Enclosures – WS912P418T0003-0001
Q1:
We have downloaded and reviewed your inquiry regarding the bent plates for the Barge deck enclosures. Can you help me understand why this inquiry is requesting that the supplier has to have a AISC Certification for supplying material and bending? This inquiry does not fall under Building Steel, Bridge Steel or Hydraulic Fabrications. We are in the process of getting our certifications for Building Steel, Simple Bridge, and Bridge Components. We have our audit on 12/20/2017. We have done a lot of work for the Army Corps Of Engineers and would like to quote this project however we will not have the certification at time of order.
A1:
The government will not be performing on-site QA/QC of the fabrication work, and therefore is requiring that the work be performed by a fabrication plant certified by an industry recognized national quality certification program as a quality assurance measure. The AISC program is the only one we are aware of that is specific to the steel fabrication industry. By this amendment, we are widening this to also allow offers from fabrication plants whose quality systems are certified under the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001:2008. Other similar nationally recognized manufacturing quality certification programs may be accepted at the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
Q2:
On the required 150pc of "Steel Stiffeners", what is the minimum/maximum formed corner radius that can be supplied?
A2:
A revised detail drawing is issued with this amendment showing the allowable tolerances.
Q3:
On the wall segments, "A", "B", & type "C" can the 3" outside diameter be formed by press breaking?
A3:
The government is not specifying means and methods for this work. Fabricators shall use processes and equipment that will yield a high quality finished product. However, please note that a revised detail drawing is issued with this amendment. The detail drawing is revised to specify the inside diameter rather than the outside diameter, and to address allowable tolerances.
File details come from the government source that posted it.
