Pro Cyc – Helpful Construction Hints

To prevent cracking in Pro Cyc joints…

Fiberglass System 1.5EZ and System 5 Only:

Grind flanges and surface where joint mud goes before bolting modules together.

o Pro Cyc recommends a very rough grind using a palm sander with 30-grit sandpaper.

Drill and bolt flanges as close to face of cyc modules as possible. Be sure to allow for width of washers.

Use bonding agent in joint area – this helps mud bond to cyc modules.

o Pro Cyc recommends a light spray mist of 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive in the joint area.

Pro Cyc Systems Super 1.5EZ; Super 1.5QS; Super 2.5EZ; 3EZ; Super 3EZ; 4BI; 4FS and 4QS:

Grind flanges and surface where joint mud goes before bolting modules together using a palm sander with

60-grit sandpaper. (Same grit used to prep surface of modules before priming and painting.)

All Pro Cyc Systems:

Use Durabond® 90-Minute Sheetrock® Setting Type Joint Compound for the first two coats of mud.

o Do not substitute other products for Durabond® 90-Minute Sheetrock® Setting-Type Joint

Compound.

o Do not use “Easy Sand” or “Light” varieties.

o Let dry up to 24 hours (in high humidity) between each coat. When it is dry it will turn white. (This could be as little as just a couple of hours in very low humidity.)

The top coat (third coat) of mud, use topping mud or regular wallboard compound.

o Pro Cyc sells Beadex® All-Purpose Joint Compound.

At the floor, sweep dry mortar mix behind the floor modules and then mist the backside for hardening.

o This step reinforces the leading edge of the floor modules.

Pro Cyc’s Virtual Green® Chroma Key Paint & Grey Bonding Primer System

Other chroma key paints may vary significantly in color or shading from Pro Cyc’s Pro Matte® Flooring – failing to produce the intended result.

Pro Cyc’s Grey Bonding Primer o One generous coat.

o Apply using a 9” roller with 3/8” nap.

o Use a 3” or 4” roller with 3/8" nap to prime Pro Cyc’s corner parts.

Pro Cyc’s Virtual Green® Chroma Key Paint o Minimum two generous coats (possibly three coats).

o Use a 9” roller with a 3/8” nap on the first coat and a 3/4” nap on the final coat(s).

o Use a 3” or 4” roller to paint Pro Cyc’s corner parts.

o Make sure to keep extra paint on hand for touchups.

When Painting White or Other Color:

Primer –

Pro Cyc’s Grey Bonding Primer o One generous coat.

o Apply using a 9” roller with 3/8” nap.

o Use a 3” or 4” roller with 3/8" nap to prime Pro Cyc’s corner parts.

Paint –

Use any high quality, flat (non-glossy) interior latex paint.

o Recommended – three generous coats of paint using a 5/8” to 3/4" nap roller.

o Use a 3” or 4” roller with 5/8” to 3/4" nap to paint Pro Cyc’s corner parts.

o Make sure to keep extra paint on hand for touchups.
