1 - Lifetime Labor & Technical Support + at least 4 Years Parts Replacement - is the type of warranty mentioned in the solicitation?
Answer: Yes that is the warranty desired.
2 - In regards to the "Lifetime labor and Technical Support", how you will need these services, more specifically what type of labor might you need in the future?
Answer: In the event of a malfunction, technical support would be needed to fix parts and/or hardware.
3 - Will you need help with installation and removal equipment?
Answer: We don't foresee any additional help needed on our side for installation/removal.
4. Can you tell me what CPU configuration this requirement was based on?
Answer:
The CPU requirements for system 1 were based on:
4 x Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 2.20 GHz (@ 24 cores each for a total of 96)
The CPU requirements for system 2 were based on:
4x Intel Xeon E7-4830 v4 2.1GHz (@ 14 cores each for a total of 56)
5. Is there any latitude from Titan Computer servers to any other computer servers that will provide similar performance and warranty support?
Answer: There could be some latitude if it can meet the requirements.
6. I ask if you might consider ethically disclosing the number of such configured computer server purchases, encircling the requesting entity, ever happening in a fiscal year, or maybe a four-year fiscal time period.
Answer: The GSL is not privy to other ERDC purchases, but for the GSL this purchase is the first of its kind and probably the only one we'll have for a couple of years.
7. Is there any CPU preference with System 1 and System 2? AMD EPYC? Intel Xeon?
Especially for system 1 requirement "Minimum of 96 Cores/192 Threads", it seems that you're looking for EPYC high core count processors.
Answer: We need Intel Xeon.
8. The spec'd processor requested is EOL'd, request you to please advise if end user have a desired replacement.
Answer: Did not know the process was EOL'd as the site is still offering that one when building a configuration. Since it is EOL’d we would want the equivalent from the new generation of processors that replaced it. The important thing is to have that 96 core/192 threads @ 2.20 GHz minimum capability (we can accept higher numbers on any of those things but not lower).
