1. Introduction Connections between CEFMS and external systems, whether internal or external to USACE, provide a means of entry and access to system data that must be protected as per DoDI 8500.2.
Application Interfaces with CEFMS occur when:
1. An external Application Program Interface (API) connects directly to CEFMS for the purpose of adding, modifying, or deleting data in one or both applications. This data can be exchanged unilaterally or bi-directionally.
2. A file is exchanged between CEFMS and an API that adds, modifies, or deletes data in one or both applications
3. An application uses objects (possibly shared) located in the same database instance and interfaces with CEFMS through an API.
In addition to Application Interfaces, users from Corp Headquarters, Districts, Divisions, Labs, Centers, and Contractor personnel interface with CEFMS to retrieve data. These are termed User Interfaces and considered a part of the CEFMS product, therefore not requiring documentation in this artifact.
2. Applicable Controls The following table lists the NIST Special Publication 800-53, Revision 4 Controls satisfied by this artifact.

3. Application Interfaces CEFMS interfaces with 30 systems (see table below) via various connection methods.
Each external application is managed and operated independently of CEFMS and requires its own Authority To Operate (ATO), Certificate Of Networthiness (CoN), and Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA).
