Additional question asked outside of ProjNet:

Question 1. Does the pipe on this project fall under the WTO or is Domestic pipe required?

Answer 1. Response: Referencing Section 00 45 00, Representations and Certifications, of the Solicitation specifications, the Buy American clause and required certificates are invoked for this solicitation. Prospective Offerors are required to comply with the requirements of that clause.

Question 2. In Spec Section 557-11-107 23-21-12-979 Pipe and Tubing 2.2 A1 Steel: ASTM A53 Grade B, seamless or ERW, Sch 40: Our question is - it is common in our industry to refer to pipe as sch 40 because up to 10” standard wt. and sch 40 are the same wall thickness. At 12”, the wall thickness becomes different. Most engineers still are referencing to standard weight pipe, which is more than adequate to handle the chill water, or they call for True Sch 40 if they want actual sch 40 . Which do you want for the pipe 12” and above, standard weight or True sch 40?

Answer 2. Response: It's correct that standard weight and Schedule 40 do differ in thickness from 14" and up; but, looking at the specs, it doesn't call for a change in chilled water pipe type depending on the pipe size. So it's true sch 40 all the way.

From specs:

PIPE AND TUBING

A. Chilled Water, Condenser Water, Heating Hot Water, and Vent Piping:

1. Steel: ASTM A53 Grade B, seamless or ERW, Schedule 40.

2. Copper water tube option: ASTM B88, Type K or L, hard drawn.

B. Underground Chilled Water and Heating Hot Water:

1. Cased Pipe: Factory-fabricated piping with carrier pipe, insulation, and casing.

a. Carrier Pipe: Schedule 40, steel pipe and fitting
