The Contractor shall also provide the COR with documentation verifying the material has been properly disposed according to Host Nation laws and requirements.

2.6.3. CONSTRUCTION LIMITS

Do not disturb the project site beyond necessary for installation of proposed construction. Do not disturb any areas past the site’s property line. Show demolition work and limits of disturbance in the drawings. Stake-out the limits of disturbance on-site with temporary fencing before beginning construction.

2.6.4. DUST, DEBRIS, AND EROSION CONTROL

Prevent the spread of dust, debris, and erosion from the project site. Install erosion control measures before beginning construction. Sweep pavements as often as necessary to control the spread of debris. Do not use water if it results in hazardous or objectionable conditions such as, but not limited to, ice, flooding, erosion, or pollution. Remove dust, dirt, and debris from work areas daily. Remove and transport the debris in a manner that prevents spillage on streets or adjacent areas. Apply local regulations regarding hauling and disposal.

2.6.5. EARTHWORK

The Contractor shall perform all earthworks necessary to provide a uniform and even grade in the immediate vicinity of the project.

Compaction under building foundations shall be at least 95% of maximum density.

Erosion control measures using rock, geotextiles, or other materials shall be included as required to stabilize the soil where necessary.

Control Tests shall be performed on all prepared subgrades in accordance with host nation and local government codes and standards. Copies of all test results shall be furnished to the COR.

Trench backfill shall be with appropriate compactable soil materials and shall be compacted in layers of about 20cm each to at least 95% maximum density. Density tests shall be conducted by the Contractor in accordance with the technical specifications. The backfilling of pits and trenches shall only be performed after approval by the COR.

All excavated material, if satisfactory for reuse, should be used on the project site where fill is required. Only gravelly and sandy non-cohesive materials shall be considered satisfactory for fill and backfill, with the provision that in any soil type the maximum particle size does not exceed 75 mm, the plasticity index is not greater than 30, the soil is not frozen or contaminated, and the soil does not contain trash, debris, or organic material. In case of a difference of opinion about the classification of soil type acceptability, an independent professional soils engineer shall be engaged at cost to the Contractor.

The COR has the right to require that trench shoring be improved if the trench shoring measures provided by the Contractor are deemed insufficient in terms of safety. This improvement shall be at the Contractor's cost if the original Contractor's measures did not meet the requirements of applicable safety criteria.

The removal of trench shoring after construction pit work or trenching shall only be performed after approval by the COR.

27-Jun-19 Page 12 of 46

2.6.6. SITE GRADING

The proposed site grading will be developed to minimize the amount of earthwork required.

Finished grades adjacent to structures on grass surfaces will be selected which direct runoff away from structures at 5% for the first 2 m. Ditches, swales and open channels will be provided as required, and have a minimum longitudinal gradient of 0.5%.

The Contractor shall also similarly grade the soil subgrade before pavements, foundations, or concrete pads are installed, in order to keep the subgrade sufficiently dry until pavement or foundation work is complete.

All depressions and low areas within the project site shall be filled and brought to grade. The final site shall be graded to provide a uniform surface over the entire site with no abrupt changes in grade due to depressions or embankments. The Contractor shall take into account the annual wet and rainy periods and shall perform site grading such that there is no erosion or undermining of the fill areas for the new building and its associated exterior features.

2.6.7. STORM DRAINAGE

The Contractor shall provide the most appropriate drainage system for the site, in accordance with host nation and local government regulations. The Contractor will take into account the information gathered from the previous site design, local climate and rainfall data, 10 year return storm frequency, and any other relevant information/data.

Storm drainage systems shall be designed to carry storm water away from structures and pavements by channel, piping, or sheet flow. The storm drainage system will be designed for a 10-year return storm frequency so that the likelihood of ponding around the building, or elsewhere on the project site, is minimized. Below each downspout outlet provide a splash block that will drain water away from building foundations a minimum of 3 meters per site grading requirements.

2.6.8. UTILITY LINES - GENERAL

The intention of this scope is that the project will reuse existing connection points for all utilities. The Contractor shall verify the condition and capacity of any existing exterior utilities which will be affected by this project. It is the Contractor's responsibility to confirm the specific location, depth, capacity and condition of the existing utilities and to construct and install any new required utility services for the project facility.

The COR shall be notified of any utility lines found to be missing from or incorrectly shown on any existing plans showing existing conditions and made available to the Contractor. Any indication of existing utility lines on such plans shall not mean the existence, location, depth and/or alignment of the lines is accurately represented. The Contractor is responsible for the protection of those lines that are to be kept in operation.

2.6.8.1. WATER SUPPLY

The Dapaong Hospital has an existing water supply to which the new laboratory addition will reconnect.

After installation, the waterlines shall be tested according to local codes for leakage under pressure. Before the waterline is put into final operation, it shall

27-Jun-19 Page 13 of 46 be disinfected in accordance with local standards and then flushed through to remove traces of the sterilization agent. The line shall not be put into operation until absence of coli form organisms is proven by a bacterial examination of the treated line by a local medical service. The results of both tests shall be provided to the COR and, if the test results are unsatisfactory, necessary remedial work shall be at the Contractor’s expense.

2.6.8.2. WASTEWATER SYSTEM

The Dapaong Hospital has an existing waste water septic system to which the new laboratory replacement will connect. The Contractor will reuse connections utilized by previous laboratory structure.

2.6.8.3. BURIED ELECTRICAL CABLES

Where proposed electrical utilities cross existing or proposed ditches, the cables shall be buried to a minimum depth of 30 cm below the ditch/swale bottom. Where cables are required to cross concrete walls, cables shall be installed in a steel conduit below the wall foundation. If a wall foundation extends 1 m or more deep, the foundation may be cored and fitted with a PVC sleeve to allow passage of cables through it. The PVC sleeve size shall be coordinated with the COR.

2.6.9. LANDSCAPING

The Contractor shall provide a plan indicating the location and limits of areas to be restored and/or repaired which were damaged by the contractor’s work effort.

Restoration plan will include, at a minimum, a plan for re-establishment of ground cover consistent with the surrounding area. These items shall be indicated on the new site plan.
