Proposed features shall be offset adequately from existing and proposed features, property lines, and access routes.

The Contractor is responsible to mitigate impacts on existing site features that are affected by the proposed improvements.

The proposed improvements must not disturb existing vehicle and pedestrian traffic patterns or limit maintenance access to existing utilities (Provide horizontal offset of 1 meter for every 1 meter depth of utility). Existing utilities may be re-routed to provide maintenance access, if the function of the utility is not compromised.

Site grading around the building shall meet local accessibility guidelines. The Contractor shall limit proposed landscape slopes to a maximum 2H:1V, or as recommended by the Contractor’s geotechnical engineer. Provide a retaining wall where necessary to meet site grading requirements. If retaining wall is over 1 meter high, provide structural calculations.

2.10 UTILITIES

Provide utility line depths, bedding, and backfill as required by applicable standards and geotechnical recommendations.

Minimum cover over sewer pipes must be 2 feet (0.61 m); greater than frost penetration; or sufficient to support imposed dead and live loads for the pipe materials used; whichever is more stringent. Plastic warning tape shall be placed along the route of the buried lines after pipe installation at a height of 30 cm above the line.

Any existing utilities encountered within the site boundary that are impacted by this project shall be protected, or relocated if protection is not feasible. Utilities impacted by this project that require decommissioning, or that are already out of service, shall be removed up to the property line. Cap utilities at property line per applicable codes. Manholes or underground structures to be abandoned shall be removed to a minimum depth of 50 cm below finish grade. Fill abandoned manhole or structure per Section 2.9-EARTHWORK requirements.

2.10.3 WATER SYSTEM

The water system shall be designed and installed to meet all flow requirements for the facility, including potable water and fire flows. In the absence of host nation standards, the water system will be designed per UFC 3-230-01.

19MAY2017 Page 10 of 34

After installation, the water supply lines shall be tested according to local codes for leakage. Before the water supply line is put into final operation, it shall be disinfected, and then flushed through to remove traces of the sterilization agent. The line shall not be put into operation until absence of coliform bacteria is proven by a bacterial examination of the treated line. Test results shall be provided to the COR and, if the test results are unsatisfactory, necessary remedial work shall be at no additional cost to the Government.

See Attachment #5 - Site Photo for existing landscaped areas. Seeds shall be locally sourced from a certified plant nursery, and native to the area. Provide seed coverage density per manufacturer/supplier’s recommendations. Provide watering, weeding, and any other necessary care to establish growth. Limit planting to times of the year per local codes and/or manufacturer/supplier’s recommendations. Replace topsoil and seeds, at Contractor’s expense, in areas which do not have new growth coverage of 75% before the warranty period ends.

Before using chemicals during landscaping work, including for use on plants and on site features, the Contractor shall submit to the COR, in the form of brochures, certificates and other technical material, information about the chemicals proposed, including about their environmental compatibility.
