About this file

This document contains channel survey maps and dredging volume data for four Habitat Restoration and Enhancement Project (HREP) sites along the Upper Mississippi River, prepared by the U.S. Army Engineer District, Corps of Engineers, St. Paul, Minnesota. The surveys were conducted in April 2024 and adjusted to specific Low Water Plane (LCP) elevations ranging from 609.7 to 610.4 feet.

The four project areas include: Catfish Slough (River Miles 625.9-627.0) with total dredging volumes of 57,765 cubic yards across three cuts; Hovie Island HREP with 23,899 cubic yards across four cuts; Upper Approach to L&D 10 HREP with 27,687 cubic yards across two cuts; and McMillan HREP (River Miles 617.5-619.5) with the largest volume of 166,865 cubic yards across five cuts. All volume quantities include 2:1 side slopes and are based on survey data current as of April 2024. The document notes that final quantities and cut priorities will be determined by the government at time of dredging, and identifies anticipated granular borrow channel dredging locations for four stages of work: Catfish Slough Stages 2 & 3, Hovie Island Stages 2 & 3, Upper Approach to LD10 Stage 1, and McMillan Island Stage 1. The maps display depth contours at 9' and 10.5' intervals with detailed planview layouts showing cut boundaries and excavation areas.
