- G-003: Revised to include new drawings.
- S-501: Revised concrete removal limits
- S-502, S-503, S-505, S-507, S-508: Revised to include the new concrete repairs
- S-102: Revised to show an additional section for electrical grounding.
- G-005: Revised Summary of Work
- Add new drawing S-507A: Issued to show the Upper Guide Wall 1 Concrete Repair details.
- Add new drawing E-501: Issued to show Electrical Grounding details.
Changes to Specifications:
1) SECTION 03 01 32 CONCRETE REHABILITATION FOR CIVIL WORKS: Insert the following new paragraph after paragraph 2.2.4 Hydromilling Equipment:
“2.2.5 Polyurethane Resin Injection Equipment Use a two-component positive-displacement-type pump with static mixing head and pressure regulation to control injection pressures while pumping low volumes for injecting the polyurethane resin system. Do not use single component pumps and/or the injection of pure water followed by injection of pure resin.”
2) SECTION 03 01 32 CONCRETE REHABILITATION FOR CIVIL WORKS: Delete Paragraph 3.6.3 Grouting of Conduits in its entirety and replace with the following Paragraph 3.6.3:
“3.6.3 Grouting of Conduits Grout abandoned conduits. Access to the abandoned conduits is through the existing manholes as shown on the drawings. Clean each existing manhole to remove all gravel dust, dirt, and loose and unsound concrete to expose the conduit. Thoroughly clean the conduits to be filled by resin injection of all loose material. Cleaning methods include, but are not limited to compressed air and flushing with clean water.
Once the conduit is exposed and the manhole and conduits cleaned, fill all existing voids in the conduit with a polyurethane injection adhesive. Use the minimum pressure required to obtain the desired travel, filling, and sealing of the conduit. Use a mix water to resin ratio of 1:1 unless otherwise approved by the Contracting Officer. Anticipate providing surface seals to contain the injection resin.”
3) SECTION 01 22 00 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: Add the following new paragraphs after paragraph 1.5.4.2:
“1.5.5 Upper Guide Wall 1 Concrete Repair Payment will be made for furnishing all materials, equipment and labor and performing all operations necessary for removing the Upper Guide Wall 1 Concrete and replacing with new concrete to the original dimensions as shown and specified. Work shall include, but not be limited to, removal and proper offsite disposal or recycling of existing concrete to expose sound concrete, preparing concrete surfaces to receive new concrete, designing and placing formwork, installing contraction and expansion joints, installing reinforcing and dowels, and placing, finishing, and curing new concrete. Additional work including, but not limited to, the use of admixtures and measures required for concrete placement and curing in cold or hot weather conditions are incidental to the price bid. This bid item covers the removal and replacement of up to 20 cubic yards concrete. The quantity does not include the surface repair of 4 inches of concrete.
1.5.3.2 Unit of Measure
Unit of measure: job.”
4) Add the attached Specification Section to the Contract Documents: SECTION 26 05 00 COMMON WORK RESULTS FOR ELECTRICAL to the existing specifications. This section is added to cover the grounding requirements for the tow rail assembly.
5) Delete the existing PRICE SCHEDULE and replace with the attached PRICE SCHEDULE. The revised PRICE SCHEDULE adds bid item 0012 UPPER GUIDE WALL 1 CONCRETE REPAIR.
6) SECTION 01 33 00 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES: Delete the existing Submittal Register that follows the section and replace with the attached submittal register that incorporates the new electrical submittals.

1.3 SUBMITTALS
Government approval is required for submittals with a "G" designation;
submittals not having a "G" designation are for information only. When used, a designation following the "G" designation identifies the office that will review the submittal for the Government. Submit the following in accordance with Section 01 33 00 SUBMITTAL PROCEDURES:
SD-03 Product Data
Wire; G, ELE Non Metallic Cable Gland; G, ELE Exothermic Weld Kits; G, ELE
SD-06 Test Reports
Continuity Test; G, ELE
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 EQUIPMENT
Provide the standard cataloged materials and equipment of manufacturers regularly engaged in the manufacture of the products. For material and equipment submittals, show manufacturer's style or catalog numbers, specification and drawing reference numbers, warranty information, and fabrication site.
SECTION 26 05 00.00 40 Page 2
2.1.1 Wire
Use bare copper for ground wire. The wire shall be soft drawn #2 AWG, 7 strand type. Submit manufacturers data for the ground wire.
2.1.2 Non Metallic Cable Gland
The cable gland shall be used for protecting the ground conductor exiting the existing wire way duct. The cable gland shall be non-metallic outdoor rated trade size 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch and accommodate the #2 AWG ground.
Submit manufacturers product literature for the proposed Non Metallic Cable Glands to be used.
2.1.3 Exothermic Weld of Copper Wire
Use industry standard exothermic welding for connections between the existing copper ground conductors and the new copper ground wire jumpers and from the copper ground jumpers to the steel surface of the lock tow rail armor. Provide suitable molds, materials and protection to adjacent conductors in the existing wire duct. The basis of design is "CAD WELD" materials and molds. Submit the proposed exothermic weld kits and procedures.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
3.1.1 Protection of Existing Wires and Cables
Ensure that exothermic welds are done in a manner to protect existing adjacent wires and cables. Demonstrate a first piece inspection showing the protection materials and methods.
3.1.2 Exothermic Weld Quality
Exothermic welds of the copper ground wire to existing copper ground wire and to the steel armoring shall be free of pock holes with a smooth finish.
Welds to steel shall be proof tested with hammer blows. The finished weld shall not come apart.
3.2 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
After installation and splicing Perform a ground wire continuity test.
Measure ground continuity between the ground conductor in the wire duct to the steel armor using a multimeter set to Ohms. The resistance shall read less than 1 ohm. Submit a report showing test results including date, person doing the test, and readings at each ground jumper location.
