SURVEYOR’S REPORT

Hydrographic Survey

Survey No. 18-268 Canaveral Nearshore Disposal Area

Canaveral Harbor, FL

Report of Survey: Chad Harralson USACE-SAJ-OD-HF

Location: Project is located in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Date: Survey was performed 08 DEC 2018.

Access: There were no access issues for the duration of this project.

Personnel: Boat Captain: Jeremy Doughtry System Operator: Chad Harralson

Datum: Horizontal coordinates are based on the state plane coordinate system for the East zone of Florida (SPC-FL-E), and referenced to the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Elevations are referenced to MLLW, tidal epoch of 1983 – 2001 reported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Instruments: The following instruments were used for data collection:

SV-FLORIDA II

Data Collection Software HYPACK 2016a

Sounder Ross Smart Sounder 835B Dual-Frequency 28/200 kHz

Positioning Applanix PosMV 320 Trimble R8 Receiver / TDL450H Radio Modem

IMU Applanix PosMV 320

Field Procedures: This survey was performed utilizing Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS using the base receiver permanently installed on top of Canaveral Lock equipment building “CANAVERAL LOCK ARP”, for all cuts. See Appendix A for additional station information.

Tidal reductions were obtained utilizing RTK and referenced to MLLW using a HYPACK KTD file provided by Geomatics section, titled “CanaveralHbr-2015 02 20.ktd”.

A tide staff previously set from survey monument “JEFFORDS”, located at the Pilot Boat dock inside Port Canaveral, was used to verify RTK tides prior to surveying.

Sound velocity corrections were also verified using a Castaway CTD velocity probe.

Data Processing: Hydrographic data was processed and sounding spikes were removed immediately upon completion of the survey. Delayed heave was utilized during processing.

Field Conditions: Sea conditions were moderate, 2-3 feet.

MAP SHEET NOTES:

REFER TO SURVEY NO. 18-268.

ALL ELEVATIONS ARE BELOW THE CHART DATUM UNLESS PRECEEDED BY A (+) SIGN.

AIDS TO NAVIGATION WERE NOT LOCATED AS PART OF THIS SURVEY.

PLANE COORDINATES ARE BASED ON THE TRANSVERSE MERCATOR PROJECTION FOR THE EAST ZONE OF FLORIDA AND REFERENCED TO THE CURRENT REALIZATION OF THE NORTH AMERICAN DATUM OF 1983, (NAD83), BASED ON

THE NOAA NATIONAL SPATIAL REFERENCE SYSTEM (NSRS).

THIS SURVEY WAS PERFORMED USING REAL-TIME KINEMATIC GPS POSITIONING WITH THE FOLLOWING

REFERENCE BASE LOCATIONS:

*REFERENCE BASE LOCATED AT “CANAVERAL LOCK ARP” (PID: BBCV57)

DEPTHS DEPICTED BY THIS SURVEY ARE REFERENCED TO MLLW, TIDAL EPOCH 1983-2001, AS REPORTED BY THE NATIONAL OCEANIC AND ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION (NOAA). A MODIFIED VERSION OF NOAA’S VDATUM MODEL WAS USED TO CALIBRATE TO THE PUBLISHED MLLW HEIGHTS OF THE BENCH MARKS BELOW:

*NGS BENCHMARK “JEFFORDS” (PID: BBCQ55)

VERTICAL MEASURMENTS WERE MADE USING A ROSS SINGLEBEAM ECHOSOUNDER OPERATING AT 28 AND 200KHZ.

ALL CHARTED DEPTHS ARE HIGH FREQUENCY.

THE INFORMATION DEPICTED ON THIS MAP REPRESENTS THE RESULTS OF SURVEYS MADE ON THE DATES INDICATED ABOVE AND CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED AS INDICATING THE GENERAL CONDITIONS AT THAT TIME.

THIS CHART IS SOLELY FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF AVAILABLE DEPTHS AT THE TIME OF SURVEY.

SURVEY ACCURACY STANDARDS, QUALITY CONTROL, AND QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS WERE FOLLOWED DURING THIS SURVEY IN ACCORDANCE WITH USACE EM 1110-2-1003, HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYING, 30 NOV 2013.
