SURVEYOR’S REPORT

HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY

DUVAL COUNTY BORROW AREA

SURVEY NO. 17-148

Survey Report: Fran Woodward, U.S, Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District

Project: Duval County Borrow Area, After Dredge Survey.

Location: Atlantic Ocean, east of Jacksonville Beach, Duval County, Florida

Date of Survey: Jun 27-28, 2017.

Right of Access: No issues.

Personnel: SV-FLORIDA II Captain: Rory Riker SV-FLORIDA II System Operator: Rob Jenkins, Chad Scheler

Datum: Horizontal coordinates are referenced to the State Plane Coordinate System, Florida East Zone 0901, North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). Elevations were referenced to NAVD 1988.

Instruments: The following instruments were used for data collection:

Survey Vessel: SV-FLORIDA II Data Collection Software: HYPACK 2016a Sounder: R2 Sonic Model 2024 Multibeam System Positioning: Applanix PosMV 320 V5 Trimble SPS 855 Base Receiver/ TDL450H Base Radio IMU: Applanix PosMV 320 V5 Field Procedures: This survey was performed utilizing Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS using the permanent base station “CHARLIE TOWER ARP” located at Mayport Naval Base. (Station information can be found in Appendix A). All tidal reductions were obtained utilizing Real-Time Kinematic GPS (RTK) and were referenced to NAVD 1988. Tide staff checks were performed before and after daily survey operations against a MLLW tide board set from monument “STARK” (NOAA station information for this area can be found in Appendix B).

During the tide checks, the KTD file (CamdenGA-Nassau-Duval-StJohns-Flagler_01Feb2011.ktd) was turned on in HYPACK and the MLLW reading was checked against the RTK tide reading. Once checked, the KTD file was turned off and survey data was collected relative to NAVD 1988. All notes pertaining to tidal reduction checks and sound velocities can be observed on the log sheets recorded at the time of survey. The vessels draft was determined prior to survey operations through a Bar Check procedure.

Processing: Upon completion of the survey the single beam data was processed in Hypack and sounding spikes were removed. Cross sections were also produced in comparison with the previous survey and checked within survey accuracies.

MAP SHEET NOTES:

1. REFER TO SURVEY NO. 17-148.

2. DEPTHS DEPICTED BY THIS SURVEY ARE REFERENCED TO NAVD 1988.

3. TIDAL REDUCTIONS WERE OBTAINED USING REAL-TIME KINEMATIC (RTK) GPS.

4. ALL ELEVATIONS ARE BELOW THE CHART DATUM UNLESS PRECEDED BY A (+) SIGN.

5. PLANE COORDINATES ARE BASED ON THE TRANSVERSE MERCATOR PROJECTION FOR THE EAST ZONE OF FLORIDA AND

REFERENCED TO NORTH AMERICAN DATUM OF 1983 (NAD83).

6. THIS SURVEY WAS PERFORMED USING REAL-TIME KINEMATIC (RTK) GPS POSITIONING WITH THE FOLLOWING

REFERENCE BASE LOCATION:

REFERENCE STATION LOCATED AT "CHARLIE TOWER” (OPUS PID = BBDC09)

TIDE STAFF LOCATED FROM "STARK” (OPUS PID = BBBZ99)

7. VERTICAL MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE USING A R2SONIC MODEL 2024 MULTIBEAM SYSTEM OPERATING AT 240KHZ.

PLOTTED SOUNDINGS ARE IN HIGH FREQUENCY (240 KHZ).
