About this file
This document is a detailed engineering drawing (Sheet C-503) from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a Levee Enlargement and Berms project located in Tensas Parish, Louisiana. The technical drawing provides typical details for levee construction, including specifications for levee embankment, slope transitions, and a corrugated metal pipe (CMP) installation. Key design notes specify that the gross levee embankment slope should create a smooth transition without creating a "bench" on the existing levee crown, and that berms must transition to natural ground at a 1V:4H slope on upstream and downstream ends. The drawing includes multiple cross-sectional views showing semicompacted levee embankment, uncompacted seepage berm, and stability berm configurations, with precise dimensional and slope specifications for each section.

1. THE SLOPE OF THE GROSS LEVEE EMBANKMENT SHALL BE VARIED SUCH
THAT NO "BENCH" IS CREATED ON THE EXISTING LEVEE CROWN AND A
SMOOTH TRANSITION TO THE EXISTING LEVEE SLOPE IS ACHIEVED.
2. ALL BERMS SHALL TRANSITION TO NATURAL GROUND AT A 1V:4H SLOPE ON
THE UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM ENDS.
3. EXISTING SURFACING IS ESTIMATED TO BE 0.5TN/LF BUT MAY BE THICKER IN
SOME SECTIONS.
