SITE VISIT SCOPE OF WORK

The date and time for the pre-bid site visit to the Houghtaling Island dredged material placement site (Site U-3A) will be on , 2 starting at 1000 hrs. The purpose of the pre-bid site visit will be to provide an opportunity for potential contractors and subcontractors to visit the Houghtaling Island site and meet with a USACE representative to answer questions pertaining to the project. The USACE representative will be available for questions from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs. A rallying point has been established in the bus and trailer parking lot, near the boat ramp, at Schodack Island State Park (Park), see attached map. The USACE and all registered participants will depart from the parking lot at 10:00 AM, and return no later than 12:00 PM.

Approximately one hour has been set-aside for this site visit.

Directions

The Park is located on Route 9J; and can be accessed by traveling on State Route 9J south out of Castleton-on-Hudson (12033) and/or north out of Stuyvesant (12173).

The approximate coordinates (Source: Google Maps) for the Park entrance road on Route 9J are 42.518002, -73.759722. The entrance road to the Park is clearly marked on Route 9J. A representative from the USACE will try to be at the Park by 0930 hrs.

Instructions

-in with Park staff prior to continuing to the bus and trailer parking lot.

Access to the Houghtaling Island site will be by travelling on one of the Parks recreation trails using personal/work 4WD vehicles. This trail is used by Park visitors for recreational activities (e.g. hiking, biking, dog walking) and has limited foreground visibility. Therefore, caution will be used while travelling on the trail.

Since the USACE is prohibited from providing transportation for non-government personnel, all registered participants will be required to provide their own 4WD motor vehicles. Furthermore, since the Park staff has insisted on limiting the number of motor vehicles on the trail for this site visit, all participants will be required to carpool, as needed and if possible, to reduce the number of vehicles. Be advised that we will be travelling to and from the site as a group, without exception.

Finally, any registered participant that arrives at the rally point after we have departed is prohibited from accessing the site independently and should wait in the parking lot for the group to return if they have any questions.

Please be advised that Houghtaling Island is a known tick habitat. Please familiarize yourself with and take the recommended precautions to protect yourself from tick bites. Participants should also be aware that there may be active ground wasp nests throughout the site.

We will provide verbal answers to questions of a general nature regarding the site (e.g. access, location of survey control points, etc.) and the project; however, you will be requested to submit other, and more technical questions (e.g. interpretation of plans and specifications, etc.), in writing. The USACE will prepare a written response to these questions and the answers will be released in an amendment to the solicitation.
