The Government shall supply the Contractor with copies of maps delineating the extent of the herbicide treatment area. If necessary the time and method of application will be indicated in the BPA Call as well.

Vegetation to be eliminated will be categorized into the eight (8) categories as follows in the bid items below (See Section B – Bidding Schedule Notes):

a. Recreation Area Control. The Contractor shall use herbicide or mechanical treatment to remove unwanted vegetation that primarily includes grass, broadleaf plants, and woody stem growth from designated recreation areas. This may include facilities such as parking lots, campsites, playground, gravel walkways/trails, overlooks, picnic pads, etc. Work will be ordered on an acreage basis. Example treatment areas and maps are included in Appendix A.

When selecting herbicides, the Contractor shall take into consideration that the herbicide will be used in a recreation area frequented by the public, that a fresh water lake and streams are in close proximity, and that desirable vegetation exists within the designated spray site. Restricted use herbicide is not permitted for use without approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative. The Contractor MUST use a chemical approved for an aquatic environment within 25ft of any water body, stream, wetland, vernal pool, etc.

The Contractor shall use a contact herbicide to achieve 95% mortality of existing vegetation. The Contractor shall be required to use a pre-emergent herbicide(s) in the herbicide application. The pre-emergent(s) selected must be provided to the Government for review and acceptance. Pre-emergent will provide up to 8 months residual control, be odorless and non-staining to surfaces.

Typically, work ordered under this category must be completed prior to the Memorial Day Holiday.

EXAMPLE herbicide mixtures are provided below:

For Sites in which adjacent vegetation shall be protected from treatment

5oz Esplanade + 4 oz. Matrix + 32 oz Glyphosate + 1 to 2 pints Attach Surfactant per acre.

For Sites without adjacent vegetation Oust Extra (3oz/acre) can be added for further residual control.

b. Raystown Dam Area Control. The Contractor shall use herbicide or mechanical treatment to remove unwanted vegetation that primarily includes grass and broadleaf plants from the various components that comprise the Raystown Dam. This may include features such as the “faces” or breast of the dam, gated abutments, guardrails, signs, fencing, etc. Work will be ordered on an acreage basis. Example treatment areas and maps are included in Appendix B.

When selecting herbicides, the Contractor shall take into consideration that the herbicide will be used in areas frequented by the public, that a fresh water lake and streams are in close proximity, and that desirable vegetation exists within the designated spray site. Restricted use herbicide are not permitted for use without approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative. The Contractor MUST use a chemical approved for an aquatic environment within 25ft of any water body, stream, wetland, vernal pool, etc.

The Contractor shall use a contact herbicide such to achieve 95% mortality of existing vegetation. The Contractor shall be required to use a pre-emergent herbicide(s) in the herbicide application. The pre-emergent(s) selected must be provided to the government for review and acceptance. Pre-emergent will provide up to 8 months residual control, be odorless and non-staining to surfaces. Pre-emergent(s) utilized at certain dam location sites must be capable of controlling brush and woody stem growth.

Typically, work ordered under this category must be completed prior to the Memorial Day Holiday.

EXAMPLE herbicide mixtures are provided below:

For Dam Rip-Rap to water’s edge (not into the water)

5oz Esplanade + 12 oz of Viewpoint + 32oz Glyphosate + 1 to 2 pints Attach Surfactant per acre.

For Sites in which adjacent vegetation shall be protected from treatment 5oz Esplanade + 4 oz. Matrix + 32 oz Glyphosate + 1 to 2 pints Attach Surfactant per acre.

For Sites without adjacent vegetation

Oust Extra (3oz/acre) can be added for further residual control.

c. Non Pre-emergent Treatment Area Control. The Contractor shall use herbicide or mechanical treatment to remove unwanted vegetation that primarily includes grass and broadleaf plants from various project locations. Work will be ordered on an acreage basis. Example use of this classification includes treatment of poison ivy patches adjacent to campsites or recreation facilities, new recreation facilities, etc.

This classification will not be used to treat areas that are required to be retreated by the Contractor due to failure to achieve the required mortality rate in a previous task order.

The Contractor shall use a contact herbicide to achieve 95% mortality of existing vegetation. The use of a pre-emergent is NOT required in this classification.

When selecting herbicides, the Contractor shall take into consideration that the herbicide will be used in a recreation area frequented by the public that a fresh water lake and streams are in close proximity, and that desirable vegetation exists within the designated spray site. Restricted use herbicide are not permitted for use without approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative. The Contractor MUST use a chemical approved for an aquatic environment within 25ft of any water body, stream, wetland, vernal pool, etc.

Restricted use herbicide are not permitted for use without approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative. The Contractor MUST use a chemical approved for an aquatic environment within 25ft of any water body, stream, wetland, vernal pool, etc.

Work will be ordered on a per acre basis; typically work under this category must be completed prior to the Memorial Day Holiday.

e. Invasive Vegetation Density 1. The Contractor shall use herbicide and/or mechanical means to remove unwanted vegetation that primarily includes invasive/noxious species in forested areas. Areas may be remote. A list of species considered by the Raystown Lake Project to be invasive/noxious is included in Attachment C. The classification is used when 75%-100% of the area is dominated by a single or multiple invasive/noxious species as defined by the Raystown Lake Project.

The Raystown Lake Project will provide the Contractor with maps and/or charts defining the treatment area, dominant invasive species and relative densities. Typically this work will have a minimum 6-12 month window of completion.
