5.2.1.4 PM Performance:

5.2.1.4.1 Preventive Maintenance and Inspection of Oil Separators: General Inspection of POL Separators includes the tightness test of POL separators and is required to be done once every 5 years (2 ½ years for gas stations). At intervals, not exceeding 5 years (2 ½ years for gas stations), separators are subject to a general inspection, which include the following tests:

a) Leak Tightness of the system

b) Structural condition

c) Internal coatings, if any

d) Condition of assembly parts (inbuilt parts)

e) Condition of the electrical equipment and system; check up on the calibration of the independent closure device, for example floating devices.

The Contractor shall coordinate and perform required General Inspections for POL Separators by an “Authorized Expert/Anerkannte Sachverstaendige IAW Para 22 VAWS”, in accordance with the approved source list of the Lower Water Protection Agency. An independent written protocol (TUEV) of the General Inspection signed by the authorized expert shall be provided to the COR within 10 working days after each inspection takes place.

The maintenance shall be carried out in accordance with the manufactures instructions and, at a minimum, shall include the following tasks:

a) Sludge trap: Determination of sludge volume

b) Separator

1. Measure the thickness of light liquids

2. Check the operation of the automatic closure device

c) Sampling shaft: Clean the drain channel

d) Remove light liquid and sludge: Separators shall be emptied via High-Pressure Suction Truck or other adequate means, when a maximum of 80% of separator’s storage capacity is reached. The Contractor shall deliver and dispose POL products from the separator to an authorized disposal company. After completion of removal and before putting the system back in operation mode, sludge trap and service separator shall be re-filled with fresh water.
