About this file

This document is a data sheet for the Vehicle Protection Systems (VPS) Base Kit (VBK) Generation 3, which includes the Modular Active Controller (MAC) and Safety Control Interface Panel (SCIP) designed for U.S. Army ground vehicle platforms. The system provides a Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) within the Survivability domain, enabling modularity, scalability, and reconfigurability for layered capabilities to support rapid development for specific missions, platforms, and threats.

The MAC features an open, modular design with safety-certifiable hardware and software, using an NVIDIA Orin 3U VPX primary processor and supporting deterministic Ethernet protocols. It offers extensive interfaces including 12 TSN-capable 1-Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, multiple video inputs/outputs, and various communication protocols. The SCIP provides vehicle crew members with control interface and system-safety assurance, including emergency stop, power control, arming, and zeroization functions. The system is designed to operate in extreme environmental conditions from -40°F to 160°F, with high reliability (MTBF ≥ 3,500 hours) and low maintenance requirements.
