Mr. Anibal Negrón Chief Environmental Officer 81 Miles Loop Fort Buchanan, PR 00934

Re: Vinyl Floor Tiles’ Asbestos Sampling Offices Area of Building #504, Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo PR

Dear Mister Negrón:

Formally we are submitting to your office the asbestos sampling results for the material collected from the vinyl floor tiles and mastic of the Offices Area of Building #504, Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo PR. The samples of the homogenous material were collected by Joanne Negrón, state accredited asbestos inspector #ASB-1113-0465-SI and analyzed for the presence of asbestos fibers by PLM method.

The asbestos sampling was performed in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency recommended procedures found in EPA-450/2-78-014 (Parts I and II), EPA 560/5-85-024, and 40 CFR 763. Attached you will find the analytical results and chain of custody. Asbestos containing materials is one defined as having more than one percent (>1%) of asbestos fibers by PLM.

The analytical results revealed none detected asbestos fibers for the six analyzed samples of the material.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project, and looks forward to a continued working relationship. Should you have any questions or comments regarding this report, don't hesitate to call us.

Sincerely, Joanne Negrón, MSEM Environmental Risk Assessor

Alfredo Joanne

AES,Inc. is accredited by NIST’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) analysis, Lab

Code 102082-0. All analyses performed in accordance with EPA “Interim Method for the Determination of Asbestos in Bulk Insulation Samples” (EPA

600/M4-82-020), 1982 as found in 40 CFR, Part 763, Appendix E to Subpart E and “Method for the Determination of Asbestos in Bulk Building

Materials” (EPA/600/R-93/116), 1993.

These test results apply only to those samples actually tested, as submitted by the client. All percentages are reported by visually estimated volume.

PLM is not consistently reliable in detecting small concentrations of asbestos in floor tiles and similar nonfriable materials, quantitative TEM is currently the only method that can be used to determine conclusive asbestos content.
