RFI #2
Q1. CLIN 0009 Coating System (C406) (406 B. Exterior cleaning and painting) requires the hull exterior decks (main deck) and bulwarks up to the corrugated roof to be pressure washed. But does not include coating?
A1. No, hull exterior decks (main deck) and bulwarks up to the corrugated roof are to be pressure washed and painted as well.
Q2. CLIN 0009A exterior hull sandblast (406.CB.2.f) Exterior Hull sand blasting (blasting will occur after pressure washing of the vessel?) includes blasting as required and painting using zinc primer. We assume we then paint the hull including main deck and bulwark up to the corrugated roof.
A2. Exterior hull will only be sand blasted IF DIRECTED. Sand blasting will be mandatory only for the items listed in C406.B.2.e. Surfaces that are sandblasted, and are then revealed to show exposed metal, will be coated with zinc primer. Yes, sandblasting shall be done after surfaces are pressure washed. This is then followed up with the surfaces being coated/painted.
