Questions & Answers

W9128F22Q0116 – HOO Tank Inspection

Last Updated: 9/28/2022

1) Is there going to be a site visit?

Answer: Site visit is not required. Inspection requirements are listed in the PWS and attachment B. Initial kickoff meeting will be conducted prior to the inspection.

2) Are the tanks built to API standards or to UL 142 standards?

Answer: These tanks are built to API standards. Refer to inspection reports provided.

3) Attachment B has no UT testing for the external inspection at fuel tank 90199. UT testing is one of the key components of API 653 external inspections. Is this correct?

Answer: Shell UT scans are required every 15 years, but our stakeholders have requested to conduct them during the 5 year inspection interval.

4) Tanks 7065, 7066, and 7068 all fall in parameters of a Steel Tank Inspection (STI) due to their size (less than 30’ in diameter and less than 50’ tall). Is an STI inspection acceptable for these three tanks?

Answer: All four of these tanks are API tanks. Tanks 7065, 7066, and 7068 have an IFR and will require a wiper seal replacement during the internal inspection.
