RFI # Question Answer

1 Can Nu-Age Plastic Sheeting be used instead of the plastic sheeting in the specifications? No. Bid in accordance with the plans and specs.

Please confirm that structural sheets SF108 and SF109 represent a structural reflected ceiling plan of the low roof after all required demolition has been completed. Confirm that all new structural steel elements are in a flat horizontal plane at or near the uppermost limit of the ceiling.

Reference revised sheets SF108 and SF109. SF108 and SF109 represents a grid of concrete beams approximately 5' below the low roof level. New tube steel and pipe struts are oriented in the horizontal plane and either sit on top of the top horizontal face or frame into the vertical face of the existing concrete beams as shown on sheets SF515 thru SF517.

Detail B3/SF510 – There is a ¼” dimension just above the W14X reference. Please advise what this dimension represents and if it is typical to longitudinal beams.

Reference revised sheet SF510. 1/4" dimension non-applicable. All transverse beams shall be framed flush with the underside of the slab above. All longitudinal beams shall have a 1/2" gap between the top surface of top flange and the bottom surface of the concrete slab above per detail B3/SF504.

Sheets SF101 through SF104. Please confirm that at all W12X and W14X beams at 2nd and 3rd floor framing, the top flange is not connected to the slab in any way except for page note #2 detail D3/SF508. Confirmed. Note that mid-span bracing detail for longitudinal beams only.

Static Dissipative Tile is not included in project specification. Please provide static dissipative tile specification or include in section 096500 Resilient Flooring. Added Spec Section 09 62 38 Static-Control Flooring, See AM-0001.

Section 096500 Resilient Flooring indicates vinyl composition tile instead of linoleum tile per finish material.

Is the intent to provide linoleum tile (Forbo Marmoleum Dual Tile) per finish material? Please advise. Revised Spec Section Para. 2.1 to reflect linoleum tiles, See AM-0001.

Per Finish schedule, Telecom (135/138/262/263/328) floor finish shows RFT-3 (static dissipative). Room 325 Telecom Room 3A indicates RFT-1 (marmoleum dual), is the intent to provide RFT-3 (static dissipative) for room 325 Telecom also? Please advise.

Revised Telecom Room 3A floor finish to RFT-3 in lieu of RFT-1. See AM-0001 drawings, Sheet AF603.

S-10 Little Fire Ant Avoidance

USAG-HI aims to ensure that the Little Fire Ant (LFA), Wasmannia punctata, an invasive species that was recently introduced to the State of Hawaii, does not become established on U.S. Army installations. LFA has the potential to infest homes and cause painful stings on both adults and children. The LFA also stings pets, such as dogs or cats on their eyes, which has the potential to cause blindness.

All new USAG-HI landscaping projects must be sourced from LFA free nurseries. For confidentiality reasons, the Hawaii Department of Health has not published a formal list of nurseries that are not fire ant free. However, the agency has disclosed that these nurseries are located in the Waimanalo area on the Windward coast of Oahu. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the covered persons not purchase or install any landscaping products purchased from the Waimanalo area until further notice.

Prior to purchasing the landscaping materials required for this contract, contact the Directorate of Public Works Natural Resource Program (NRP), at 655-9189 or 655-9191, to obtain an approval certificate for the project.

Once the landscaping materials are installed, provide NRP personnel access to survey and inspect the newly landscaped sites. The purpose of the inspection is to look for LFA. If LFA are found, the contractor who installed the plants must provide the labor and funding to remove the LFA. Under these circumstances, the responsible party may only use pest management controls that comply with the current USAG-HI Pest Management Plan and obtain approval from the Installation Pest Management Coordinator (IPMC) prior to any treatment. A copy of the Pest Management Plan may be obtained at Building 104 on Wheeler Army Airfield from the Pest Management Program Manager, 656-3093. The IPMC can provide guidance on how to comply with the Pest Management Plan.

S-11 - Hawaiian Hoary Bat Pupping Season
