About this file

This document contains answers to bidder inquiries for a federal solicitation seeking Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLCs and supporting hardware and software from the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Little Rock. The solicitation requires three Allen Bradley Contrologix 1769 PLCs that must be brand specific, while equivalent products may be quoted for other items pending approval from the agency lab manager. Inquiries were answered confirming specifications for wiring and software part numbers, acknowledging incomplete part numbers, and clarifying that longer than two week lead times could be quoted but may be a deal breaker. The bidder was also told the newer Allen Bradley L8x series of processors could be proposed but the solicitation's 1756-L72 was sufficient.

A. Yes, Sir. That is correct.

Q. The "Combined Synopsis/Solicitation For Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley PLCs and Supporting Hardware/Software UCIC MCX, Branson, MO" states "All Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley Contrologix 1769 PLC's items must be brand specific to ensure compatibility and continuity of current operations.

The remaining items can verified equivalent. However, they must be approved by the UCIC-MCX lab manager before they are purchased."

Despite the aforestated, is it possible to quote an equal to, or better than product?"

A. In answer to your question, as stated in the description, you may quote equivalent products. The only exception is that you may not quote equivalent products for the Rockwell Automation items. You may quote equivalent items for all others, but our lab manager will review what you have quoted and validate that it is truly equivalent to the items on the parts list. I hope this clarifies the issue, but please feel free to reach out again if you still have questions.

Q. This is a question from our Allen Bradley Rep:

You are requesting (10) 1756-L72. Most clients are now purchasing the L8x series of processors. More powerful, has more capabilities but also costs a little more. Let me know if you want to move to the newer platform.

A. The 1756-L72 is sufficient for this project.
