About this file

This document is a Government Responses to Industry Questions (Q&A) for federal contract opportunity W9127P26QA036, dated 18 September 2026. The Government indicates it will update this document if additional questions are submitted prior to the quote due date. The solicitation involves the procurement of musical instruments across multiple Contract Line Items (CLINs).

The responses clarify specific product requirements: CLIN 0004 requires alto saxophones with gold lacquer finish; CLIN 0005 requires Bb clarinets with a professional-grade eco-composite body. Mouthpieces are to be included with the instruments as standard manufacturer inclusions with no additional specifications required. All instruments must be delivered with standard manufacturer cases and accessories, including ligatures, mouthpiece caps, cleaning supplies, and maintenance kits. These clarifications address ambiguities regarding product grade levels, finish specifications, and included components for the musical instruments being procured.

Government Responses to Industry Questions, dated 18 September 2026

W9127P26QA036

The Government will update this document if any additional questions are submitted prior to the quote due date.

1. CLIN 0004 – Alto Saxophones: Is a specific lacquer finish or color required, such as clear lacquer, gold lacquer, silver plate, or another finish?

Answer: Gold lacquer is the preference for the alto saxophones.

2. CLIN 0005 – Bb Clarinets: The specifications require an eco-composite body. Please confirm that an eco-composite/student-grade clarinet is the intended product, despite the other instruments appearing to be professional-grade models. Alternatively, is a professional-grade composite clarinet required?

Answer: My preference would be a professional grade eco-comp body in this instance.

3. Mouthpieces and Accessories: Are mouthpieces required with the clarinets and alto saxophones? If so, please identify the required manufacturer, model, facing, or other specifications for each mouthpiece.

Answer: My SMs have their own mouthpieces etc, however, instruments usually come with mouthpieces standard. No additional specifications are necessary.

4. Please also confirm whether each instrument must include its standard manufacturer case and accessories, such as ligatures, mouthpiece caps, cleaning supplies, and maintenance kits.

Answer: Each instrument should come with its standard case and accessories.
