SECTION 48 13 16.00 26 Page 2

3.13.4 Final Testing of Field Winding

After completion of the rotor cleaning, the following tests shall be performed.

a) Insulation Resistance. Insulation resistance shall be measured between winding and ground at 500 V dc.

b) Voltage Drop Test. Following the insulation resistance test, an AC voltage shall be applied to the field leads and the voltage appearing across each coil measured and recorded.

c) AC High Potential Test. Following the voltage drop test, the field winding shall tested at 2500 VAC for one minute.

d) DC Resistance test. Measure the DC resistance of the rotor winding with a Kelvin Bridge or equivalent. Record the temperature at the time of test. Convert the reading to 75 degrees C.

At the completion of the testing, submit for approval the rotor test report.

The report shall include results of tests performed before and after cleaning of the rotor.

3.13.5 Field Winding Varnish

Before the rotor is reinstalled, a coat of insulating varnish shall be applied over the surface of the field winding coils and insulating materials.

3.14 INITIAL STATOR WINDING ACCEPTANCE TESTS

The following tests shall be performed following completion of winding repair. If failures occur during the testing or because of the testing, stop work and report the failures to the COR immediately. Do not attempt any repairs to the winding without COR's approval. Submit for approval initial stator winding acceptance test procedure.

a. Stator Winding Resistance Measurements. Accurate winding resistance measurements shall be made on each phase of the completed stator winding. Within one hour of these measurements, accurate temperature measurements shall be made from each of the stator winding embedded temperature detector readings. The average of the temperature detector readings shall be considered to be the stator ambient temperature at the time of the stator winding resistance measurements and shall be used to calculate the corrected stator winding resistance at 75 degrees C.

b. Insulation Resistance and Polarization Index Tests. Each phase of the stator winding shall be given polarization and insulation resistance tests of 10,000 VDC in accordance with IEEE 43.

At the completion of the testing, an initial stator winding acceptance test report shall be submitted for approval.

3.15 GENERATOR REASSEMBLY

Following approval of the initial acceptance tests, the Government will reassemble the unit within eight (8) weeks. The reassembly will consist of removal of the turbine shaft support, reassembly of the parts described in

SECTION 48 13 16.00 26 Page 15 g2ct9jdf Highlight paragraph 3.4, and post-reassembly measurements and tests.

3.16 FINAL STATOR WINDING ACCEPTANCE TESTS

The following tests shall be performed following completion of generator reassembly. If failures occur during the testing or because of the testing, stop work and report the failures to the COR immediately. Do not attempt any repairs to the winding without COR's approval. Submit for approval the final stator winding acceptance test procedure for each test.

This shall include an outline and description of the test methods and equipment to be employed in the field tests for the completed winding.

a. Each individual phase of the winding shall be high potential tested with the phases not being tested solidly connected to ground. The test shall be in accordance with IEEE C50.12 and IEEE 115. The test value shall be 17 kVAC rms for a period of one minute.

b. Controlled DC Overvoltage Test. A controlled DC overvoltage test shall be performed on each phase of the winding to provide baseline data for future maintenance tests. The test shall be the ramp type at 25 kVDC. It shall be performed in accordance with IEEE 95.

c. Embedded Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) Tests. Following all overvoltage testing, the following RTD tests shall be performed:

(1) RTD AC Test. The RTD ground insulation shall be tested at a potential of 1500 VAC rms.

(2) RTD Insulation Resistance. The RTD insulation resistance shall be measured at 500 VDC. The insulation resistance measurements on each RTD shall be 100 mega-ohms, minimum.

(3) RTD Element Resistance. The resistance of each RTD shall be determined by subtracting the lead resistance (between the two common leads) from the total resistance measured (from each common lead to the third lead). The values thus obtained shall be corrected to 25 degrees C, recorded, and included in the test report.

At the completion of the testing, submit for approval a final stator winding acceptance test report.
