About this file
This is a Sources Sought notice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducting market research to identify domestic availability of Single Zone Mini Ductless Split Systems rated 1 to 4 Ton. The systems must maintain room temperatures between 68 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit during heating and cooling seasons, operate continuously 24/7, and include standalone thermostats and alarms. Required specifications include Energy Star rating, R-32 refrigerant, 208/230V single-phase 60 Hz power supply, outdoor condensing unit with heat pump capability, single zone configuration, inverter technology, low ambient heating and cooling capability, auto restart function, condensate pump option, 24-hour timer, and manufacturer's warranty covering 2 years on parts and 5 years on compressor.
Applicable NAICS codes are 238220 (Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors) and 333415 (Air-Conditioning and Warm Air Heating Equipment Manufacturing). Mini Ductless Splits qualify as commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items, requiring only U.S. manufacture to satisfy Buy American Act requirements without component testing. Firms with knowledge of domestically manufactured units should submit technical data sheets via email to Rodney.d.Alexander@usace.army.mil with subject line "Sources Sought Notice - Mini Ductless Split System." This is a market survey for written information only; no contract will be awarded and no reimbursement is available for response costs.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting market research to determine domestic availability of a Single Zone Mini Ductless Split System - 1 to 4 Ton. Mini
Ductless Split System units must be designed to maintain the room's temperature between 68 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit during the heating and cooling season respectively. Units must be able to operate 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The split system will have a stand alone thermostat located in the telecom room, and a stand alone alarm if the unit is not functioning.
The Mini Ductless Split Systems must also adhere to the following requirements:
Energy Star rated; R-32 refrigerant;208/230V -1 Ph - 60 Hz; outdoor condensing unit
(heat pump); single zone; inverter technology; low ambient cooling and heating; auto restart; condensate pump option; 24 hour timer; manufacturer's warranty - limited 2 year parts and 5 year compressor.
The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code are
238220 Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors, and 333415 Air-
Conditioning and Warm Air Heating Equipment and Commercial and Industrial
Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturing.
Mini Ductless Splits are a commercial off-the shelf (COTS) item so the Buy American
Act only requires that the item be manufactured in the United States to be considered a
“domestic construction material”. A COTS item does not need to meet the components test.
If your firm has knowledge of domestically manufactured Mini Ductless Split Units, please submit technical data sheets via email to Rodney.d.Alexander@usace.army.mil with the subject “Sources Sought Notice - Mini Ductless Split System”.
