Q/A # Question (Q) and Answers (A) for Solictation W9124V18B0001, Building 61 Medical Training Facility Addition/Alteration
Q 1 There is a fixture in room 110 (sheet E200) that is marked A21. Should it be A31?
A 1 Correct, the fixture should be tagged as A31.
Q 2 Specification 265100 stops at 3.2 B. , but there should be more pages. Can you print the rest?
A 2 There are no additional pages to this specification section.
Q 3 On sheet E100 “ELECTRICAL DEMOLITION NOTES” note 6 tells us to deliver unused fixtures to the owner. What building do we deliver these two, and how should they be packaged?
A 3 Any excess electrical/light fixtures will be the responsibility of the contractor to properly dispose of.
Q 4 Is there going to be a specification section for PANELBOARDS?
A 4 See attached specification section 262416 Panelboards.
Q 5 I would list room 145 (MECHANICAL ROOM) conduit as not subject to severe physical damage per 260533 3.1 B. 2., correct?
A 5 Correct, conduit in Room 145 (Mechanical Room) are not subject to sever phsyical damage.
Q 6 The addition is a separate bid item. Panel F is in the addition (0003), but part of the feeder and the breaker in the MDP, are located in 0001. Should we put the price all in 0003?
A 6 Place the appropriate cost for the breaker and feeder in CLIN 0001.
Q 7 Page E110, General note B: The note indicates that all communication cables in B61 will be removed. Does this include cables in the “no work” area? If unused cables that extend into the “no work” are encountered will they be removed in their entirety or just to the work boundary? Please clarify if all cables will be removed in B61.
A 7 All communication cabling in Building 61 shall be removed. Communication cabling for the "no work" area are identified on Sheet E500, Sheet Work Notes #8.
Q 8 SHEET FP400 (Questions 8‐17 are Sheet FP400): Note 4 says to replace existing Simplex panel with new Monaco MAAP+ addressable panel. It is assumed at that point all new devices in the addition and “existing area Affected by Project” will have new devices and wiring. There are some questions for the rest of the existing system.
A 8 Correct, there will be all new fire alarm devices in the existing portion of Bldg 61, as well as the new addition. Sheet Work Notes #4, Sheet FP400, has an incorrect statement in reference to re‐ using the fire alarm conduit. All new conduit will be required for the fire alarm scope of work.
Q 9 The existing Simplex detectors in the “Existing Area No Work” are not listed for the Monaco panel and are conventional devices. Are they to be replaced with new Monaco addressable devices and new wiring?
A 9 The existing devices in the "Existing Area No Work" shall not be replaced. See Sheet Work Notes #4, Sheet FP400: Bldg 62, which is the "Existing Area No Work," these zones are to be integrated into the new fire alarm panel. Please note the existing fire alarm panel is not a Simplex panel, but a Monaco fire alarm panel.
Q 10 Are the existing Simplex devices in the “Existing area No Work” to be replaced with new conventional Monaco devices, a conventional backplane added to the panel and the existing wiring and zones to be reused? Note 3 says to provide rough in for future Mass Notification devices.
A 10 See answer to Question #9.
Q 11 Is this rough in to be conduit and boxes only or is wire/cable to be roughed in also?
A 11 In reference to the future mass notification system, no wiring or cabling is included in the scope of this project.
Q 12 Do we just rough in a box above the ceiling tile in the locations shown or do we also need to extend a flex down to the ceiling tile with a box cut into the tile and a support bar installed on the tile for the box?
