QUESTIONS FROM SITE VISIT

1. Drawing C‐2: The painting of runway closure markings seems to be a very inefficient method for this type of project. Will the government consider the use of fabric runway closure markings or lighted runway closure markings for this project?

**Drawings have been amended to require lighted runway closure markings.

2. Drawing C‐1: Will the contractor be required to close Runways 33L/15R and 24L/6R?

**Yes, see amended drawing C‐1.

3. Will the government consider providing the bidders with an AutoCAD file of the Existing/Proposed Topography and/or Cross Sections for use in estimating quantities since this is a lump sum project?

**Due to issues with file conversion and possible loss of integrity, we cannot provide the drawing files for bidding purposes. For our policy on this matter, see the Technical Provisions, General para. 5.3.

4. Due to the lack of erosion control plans, can we assume that this project will not require any local or state environmental permits?

**Yes, no permits are required.

5. Is the intent of the contract to mill all of the existing runway mainline, without consideration of existing fills required on the existing runway, (50 ft left and right for a depth of 4 quote mark , and then 2 quote mark on the adjcent shoulders for 25' width prior to placement of structural asphalt?

**No. The intent is to mill only where indicated on the runway cross sections in order to achieve the final grades.

Some places on the runway will require the entire 4"/2" for the runway/shoulders, some places will require very little milling, plus a leveling course.

W9124M-15-B-0005

6. Is the intent of the contract mill only the cut sections of the mainline runway to a variable depth as needed as indicated by the provided cross sections and then apply only leveling and no milling in the fill sections of the mainline runway prior to placement of structural asphalt?

**This project requires variable depth milling in order to provide the correct profile of the runway and shoulders after the 4"/2" of new asphalt are installed. In places where leveling is required, it will be necessary to mill and square out the existing pavement in order to avoid feathering out the asphalt. In these cases, the leveling course needs to be a minimum of 1‐1/2" thick.
