About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding signage specifications for a federal contract opportunity. The opportunity involves procuring signs for the United States Army Institute for Religious Leadership, including a main sign and hanging signs below it. Based on pictures of the existing signs, the hanging signs appear to be made of the same HDU material as the main sign, with a smooth rather than rough-cut surface. Eye bolts and locking chain links are used to attach the hanging signs below the main sign. While a PVC material was suggested for durability, matching the existing HDU material is preferred if possible. The signs would need to withstand outdoor conditions for two years. Additional attachment pieces should also be supplied for potential future leadership signage changes.

Text version

Question I had a question about the signs that are to hang under the main sign. I would recommend using a PVC type of sign that will be able to hold up to the abuse the sign may take like wind and other elements.

The HDU is strong but cant sustain the constant moving the sign would get if it were hanging. Would this substitution be acceptable? Would you want additional hanging tabs made for future Leadership?

Answer I’ve attached multiple pictures of the SSI Sign that we are trying to match.

I got some close-ups of the names at the bottom.

I think they are made out of the same material (HDU)—though smooth rather than rough-cut like the sign.

In general, the hanging signs would need to hold up for 2 years.

If possible, I think we should go with the same material as the sign.

I think you can see the attachments—looks like eye bolts in the main sign and hanging sign and a locking chain link (or 2) is what is used to hold them.

If extra parts seem prudent, that would be fine to have them on hand.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Blessings,
