W911WN-23-Q-1196 Amendment I: Response to Industry Inquiries
The mix design in Attachment A has Type II cement which is no longer available as the industry has switched to Type 1L cement. Would Type 1L Cement be acceptable in lieu of Type II? Also can the material sources be provided as the specification requires that it is the same.

2.1 Materials
Cementitious materials shall conform to appropriate specifications listed below.
Use one manufacturer of each type of Portland cement, pozzolan, silica fume, and/or slag cement.
2.2.1
“ASTM C150/C150M, Type II, or ASTM C595 Type 1L.”
If we are unable to use the attached mix design, a new mix design will require approximately 6 weeks after award, and there is a requirement to submit for approval 30 business days before the first placement. Based upon the provided schedule, there is insufficient time allowed. Please review.
We can reduce the requirement to submit for approval to 15 business days before the first placement. We ask that the vendor works with our concrete specialist Brian Lucarelli during the batch design/testing to make sure the mix will likely be suitable before the test breaks and submittal.
