PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 Description of Work
The general description of the work is to furnish all equipment, labor, layout of work, and supervision to construct the following:
Locks and Dam 2 (Braddock), Monongahela River. The location of Braddock Locks and Dam is shown on attached "Transportation Route to Braddock Locks and Dam" which gives directions from downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Remove and Replace Roof on Administrative Building
The existing roof on the Administrative building consists of an unballasted, fully adhered EPDM membrane on 3" of insulation, with aluminum gravel stop, and two exterior roof drains, and one interior drain. The roof deck consists of 1-1/2" galvanized steel decking on steel joist. An old roof remains under the downstream section of roof. The work consists of removing existing EPDM roof membrane, insulation, gravel stop, and fascia, and installing new mechanically fastened composition polyisocyanurate board insulation, modified bitumen roofing, roof drains, aluminum gravel stop, and fascia. Tapered insulation shall be used to provide a minimum roof slope of 1/4 inch per foot.
Remove and Replace Roof on Operation Building
The existing 2nd floor roof consists of an unballasted, fully adhered EPDM membrane on 3" of insulation on a concrete deck. The work consists of removing the roof membrane, insulation, and flashing. The new roof shall be mechanically fastened composite board/polyisocyanurate board insulation, modified bitumen roof with walking pad to roof antennas, new roof drains and drain pipe shall be installed, and replacement thru-wall flashing. In addition, the exhaust vent shall be removed and the roof openings patched. Tapered insulation shall be used to provide a minimum roof slope of 1/4 inch per foot.
There are two small 3rd floor roofs which are also fully adhered EPDM membrane on 3" of insulation. The roof deck consists of cast concrete deck. Work here includes removal of all roofing materials and installation of new mechanically fastened composite board/polyisocyanurate board insulation, modified bitumen roof, and either reseting the existing roof drains and drain piping or installation of new roof drains, at the Contractor's option.
Remove and Replace Asphalt Shingle roof on Landwall Storage Shed
The existing roof on the wooden landwall storage building consists of asphalt shingles over wood sheathing. Work on the shingled roof consists of the complete removal of all existing roofing
SECTION 01 30 00.10 Page 2 materials including asphalt shingles and nails, and installing all new felt and asphalt shingles.
Point Marion Lock and Dam, Monongahela River. The location of Point Marion Lock and Dam is shown on attached "Transportation Route to Point Marion Lock and Dam" which gives directions from downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
Remove and Replace Deck Coating on Observation Deck of the Operation Building.
The observation deck consists of tapered concrete topping on precast, pre-stressed hollow core concrete units and the present deck coating is Dex-O-Tex traffic bearing roof deck coating. The work consists of removing the existing coating from the deck and the walls under the flashing. Install new urethane-based, cold-liquid-applied elastomeric waterproofing membrane with integral wearing surface to the deck and walls, and installing new wall flashing. The work is to be performed by a manufacturer-approved installer. A silicone-based liquid water repelling coating shall be applied to the inner face and top of the parapet wall. Minor repointing and concrete repairs to the parapet wall may be required. All concrete work shall be performedd as specified herein in Paragraph "CONCRETE WORK."
Hildebrand Lock and Dam, Monongahela River. The location of Hildebrand Lock and Dam is shown on attached "Transportation Route to Hildebrand Lock and Dame" which gives directions from downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
