About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a federal contract opportunity for reefer trucks at Fort Irwin. The Q&A clarifies that 26-foot reefer trucks are not acceptable substitutions for the required 24-foot trucks unless offered at the same rate, liftgates are not required, and vehicles will be driven with mileage based on mission requirements. Class 8 vehicles requiring CDL licenses are not acceptable, and diesel fuel is required for the refrigeration units. The document also confirms that standard 24-foot reefer trucks are required rather than reefer boxes, and while cargo weight is not specified, vehicles must be engineered to withstand 85 MPH winds.

The related solicitation (W911SG-25-Q-0006) is for the Department of the Army at Fort Irwin, requiring reefer trucks with non-CDL automatic transmissions that meet California emissions standards and include ARB numbers. Trucks must come with 10lb fire extinguishers, warning triangles, and appropriate fuel labeling. The contractor must provide 24/7 maintenance services including weekends and holidays, with a 2-hour response time for repairs. The government will provide qualified drivers and Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuel.
