W911SG25BA004 Questions from Bidders

1. During the site visit at Building 23480, a 2 x 2 lay was found in the ceiling where work is to be performed. In the bid documents, there is no indication of this lay in ceiling. Is the entire ceiling to be demolished? Or is it to be removed and reused? Is ceiling grid to left in placed or removed? Is a new ceiling grid system is to be installed?

a. The design documents do identify the presence of a suspended ceiling; note figures A and B on page 4, and figure C on page 5 of the drawing set. The ceiling is in good condition and not to be demolished. However, the contractor shall remove sections of the suspended ceiling to access the exhaust system ductwork which will be replaced. Removed sections of the suspended ceiling tiles and grid shall be reinstalled and any damaged items will be replaced. The ceiling grid will be left in place to the greatest extent possible, and only sections required to demo the ductwork will be removed temporarily.
