QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
1. We are checking to see if product we are using will satisfy contract.
Answer: It appears to be used as an “overlay” in which case it will not be allowed.
This product is acceptable for Section J only.
2. 1.1 General description of work and 11.1 state “remove existing roof to the bare deck in sections B, J, K, L, and replace with new roofing materials. 11.3.2 Corrective action (b) section J calls for: silicone coating on existing metal roofing. Please clarify.
Answer: All sections shall be replaced with new materials of greater or equal value to those that are existing. Please refer to the Roof Section Inventory Report for each section. Section J is the only section not requiring a complete replacement of the metal panels but only a silicone coating.
The corrective action section of the scope of work is items to pay specific attention to for each section.
3. 11.1 In order to calculate the size of the crane necessary to remove and re-install all mechanical equipment on roof, we need to know the size and weight of the equipment. We also need to know the height of the roof above ground level in areas K & L. Can we receive this information?
Answer: The unit information is as follows:
1. 4 ton weighing approximately 800 pounds
2. 5 ton weighing approximately 800 pounds
3. 15 ton weighing approximately 2500 pounds.
K&L roof height is approximately 20 feet.
4. Request the specifications for all roofing materials desired.
Answer: All sections shall be replaced with new materials of greater or equal value to those that are existing. Please refer to the Roof Section Inventory Report for each section.
5. Request location and extent of lightning protection and specifications.
Answer: Section 11.1 of the Scope of Work under the paragraph titled Building 1624 states:
“Contractor to remove lightening protection system (LPS) and re‐install after reroofing is complete. Lightning Protection shall have a pre and posttest and Ohm out by a qualified person and submit acceptable report to the COR. Testing will be done by an experience and competent person using the properly calibrated equipment. Recommend to the contractor to draw a sketch of the existing layout of the existing lightning protection system before any removal is conducted.”
The contractor is NOT to replace the LPS but simply remove and reinstall if the roof replacement cannot be accomplished with a work around the LPS. If the contractor needs to remove the LPS to finish the roof replacement pictures will be made available to winning bidder in order to ensure it is reinstalled the exact same way. If the contractor needs to remove the LPS they need to have it tested before and after to ensure it is still fully functional and calibrated correctly.
6. Request to verify the correct decision on wage rates.
Answer: The wage determination (WD) listed in the solicitation is the correct one (NM180041 dated
