Fire Extinguisher Maintenance RFI:
Question:
What is your definition of "annual maintenance" versus an "annual inspection"? Is that meant to be for 335 units that you know are requiring 6 year maintenance or other servicing? If so, are all of your units the same size? It's going to be hard to come up with a "Net Amt" without knowing exactly what needs work.
Answer:
All fire extinguishers on post shall be annually inspected, tested and maintained IAW NFPA 10. This will include annual inspection (line item #1) of all extinguishers. Hydrostatic testing (line item #2), six year maintenance (line item #3) which will be dictated via the date of manufacture of the fire extinguisher. We have approximately 1600 fire extinguishers with an accurate number determined after the first year of contract.
Question:
In the statement of work it lists the following quantities:
ITEM # SUPPLIES/SERVICE QUANTITY UNIT UNIT PRICE AMOUNT
001 Annual Inspection TBD Each 002 Hydrostatic Testing/refill N/A Each 003 Six (6) Year Maintenance N/A Each 004 CO2 cylinder test 1 Each 005 Emergency calls TBD Each 006 CMRA 1 Each
However, in the Solicitation it shows quantities such as the following when pricing:
Annual Maintenance: 335 Fire Extinguisher Inspection: 1300 Hydro-Test and Refill: 49 CO2 Cylinder test: 1
When pricing for this solicitation are the quantities shown to be taken into account by line item (335, 1300, 49, 1)?
For example, will maintenance only be required for 335 fire extinguishers, inspection for 1300 and Hydrostatic Testing/Refill for 49? Or during the inspection, if hydro testing/refill is required is that and addition to the 49?
Or will Testing and Maintenance be done as needed based upon each inspection?
