Concrete shall be poured to a minimum of 10” inches, or to the minimum required/recommended depth by the engineer to support the weight of the RTCH equipment. (Gross 171,000 lbs.) The new concrete shall be poured per ACI Standards for Heavy Traffic and Loads. The proper curing methods shall be used at all times until the concrete is properly cured. (Curing time for temperature, curing compounds, wet burlap. (See Driveway - MEP Pavement Plan Drawing)

The expansion/contraction joints shall be installed per ACI Standards, or a minimum of every third joint being an expansion joint. Saw cuts should not cut through the reinforcing steel and dowels should be utilized at formed and/or cold joints per ACI Standards.
4.4.11 All areas of irregularities shall be removed and before concrete attains initial curing. The new concrete pavement shall have a broom finish. Bituminous expansion joints should be installed where required and between the new concrete pavement and any adjoining surfaces (buildings, sidewalks, curbing, loading ramp, existing concrete, new POV asphalt parking, etc.)
4.4.12 The newly constructed concrete entrance drive and MEP Parking Area will not have curb/guttering, and shall have a reinforced turn down thickened edge along the entire edge of the entrance driveway, the entire perimeter of the MEP Parking area, and any other edges required by ACI Standards. The final perimeter reinforced turned down edge shall be a minimum of 8” inches and should be able to withstand heavy equipment parking and the possibility of the heavy equipment running over and back on the finished edge. The new edge shall be constructed in a way not to cause damage or issues in the future to the concrete pavement.
4.4.13 Any new concrete paving areas penetrated by cleanouts, valves, surface inlets, drainage grates, etc. shall be reinforced per ACI Standards as to not damage those penetrations or cause issue with new concrete paving in the future.
