Site Visit Questions
The following five (5) questions were asked during the YTC Grounds Maintenance site visit conducted on Friday, 19 February 2016.
1. Question: Is pre-emergent herbicide spraying required?
Answer: That is up to the discretion of the contractor based on the conditions they observe. All herbicide to be used shall be approved by our Natural Resource Specialist.
2. Question: Will any bare earth portions of the cantonment area be improved with a gravel layer, thus altering the need for herbicide applications?
Answer: Currently there are no plans to place gravel layers on any portions of the cantonment area.
3. Question: Will the government provide the water lines needed to irrigate the turf areas that are not serviced by in-ground irrigation sprinklers?
Answer: Yes, the government will provide the water lines needed to irrigate the areas without in-ground irrigation. These sprinkler water lines are not attached to wheels or any powered device. They are lines that rest on the ground and must be moved by hand as needed to provide irrigation to the turf areas.
4. Question: If, while applying herbicide to weeds a nearby tree dies, will the contractor be held liable?
Answer: No, but this should not occur as long as the contractor provides a list of chemicals to be used before applying them. As mentioned above, any herbicide/chemical to be used under this contract shall be approved by the Natural Resource Department.
5. Question: Is the contractor responsible for pruning the large trees in the cantonment area?
Answer: No, large scale tree pruning is not a line item on this contract and is covered under a separate contract.
