About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) attachment for a federal contract opportunity involving the relocation of security safes at Fort Riley, Kansas. The document provides detailed responses to nine specific questions about the safe moving project, including safe dimensions, locations, packing status, and delivery requirements. Key details include seven GSA-approved security safes being moved between three buildings (634 Canyon Road, 200 Henry Avenue, and 289 Cameron Street), with specifics on safe types (four 4-Drawer Single Lock safes, two 2-Drawer Single Lock safes, and one Map safe). The safes will be pre-packed in original shipping materials, with old safes emptied by RNEC personnel prior to the move. The contractor is required to place and unpack the safes at specific locations, with considerations for building access, loading docks, and potential stair navigation.

1. Did this have a previous incumbent. Who was it?

- No, this is a new requirement.

2. Could you confirm the approximate weight for each of the safes involved in the move?

- The approximate weights of each container are listed on the Safe Distribution List which is found on the last page of the PWS.

3. Please confirm the approximate dimensions (height x width x depth) for each safe involved in the move.

- As per the GSA Catalog attached:

4. Can you confirm how many of the safes will need to be moved via stairs, and whether elevator access is available at any of the delivery locations.

- Per page 2 of the PWS “Building 634 and 289 are one story buildings with easy truck access and no stairs.” “The placement of the safes will be on the basement level and first floor of Building 200”

- BLDG 200 (Room 18) - using the loading dock located next to Room 1’s ramp for this. No stairs involved; the truck should be able to back up to the loading docks and into BLDG 200’s basement hallways. We would need to assess the difference in height between the truck’s bed and the loading dock.

- BLDG 200 (Room 106D) - Parking the moving truck in front of BLDG 200 will minimize the number of stairs to cover. 4 steps to the main hallway.

The ramp may potentially be used.

- BLDG 200 (Room 1C) - Will be able to utilize the ramp located outside of Room 1. Due to the handrail in place outside of Room 1, some safes may prove too wide to use the ramp; in such a case, there would be approx. 4 stair steps between the fire lane and Room 1’s door.

5. Are the safes packed, or do you require the contractor to pack them?

- Safes are packed in original shipping packages and materials. New safes are empty, old safes will be emptied by RNEC personnel prior to moving teams arrival.

6. At what floor level are the safes new and old located and delivered?

- See #4 Above. BLDG 289, BLDG 200 Room 18, BLDG 200 Room 106D

BLDG 200 Room 1C

7. Do the safes need to be placed in a specific place and unpacked, or do they need to be just delivered/dropped off?

- Placed in a specific place and unpacked.

8. Do the facilities have elevator and loading dock that can be used?

- See #4 Above.

9. Please add pictures of each safe.
